Long shot

Anyone been to La Antioquena Bakery & Sandwich Shop on W. Waters Avenue in Tampa?  I clipped a blurb out of the paper several months back and plan to take MIL tomorrow.  ILs are down from Massachusetts this week and I'm taking the day off tomorrow.  MIL spent her childhood living in Columbia and this bakery is a Columbian bakery.  I figure MIL will love it.

Just thought I would see if anyone might have tried it.  The article in the paper makes it sound delicious!

Re: Long shot

  • I've never been there, but please come back and tell us how it is. I am always looking for new mom & pop type places to go and eat.
  • After posting this, I did a google search and found they have a website.  Unfortunately it's all in Spanish, so I can't read most of it.  Could make out the days/hours of operation and that they have sandwiches, salads, chorizo, etc on the menu.  MIL is going to finally get her authentic cuban sandwich while she is here!

The article in the paper mentions braided guava and cheese bread and passion fruit milkshakes.  It says the hit of the visit was the Pan de Queso, or cheese bread.  YUM!  I am going to love this place!

I will definitely report back on our visit.

  • If you use Google Chrome, it will translate it for you, almost perfectly.

  • I haven't been there, but definitely partake in the Pan de Queso (which I'm assuming is the same as the Brazilian Pao de Queijo).  They are amazing!  I've made them a few times at home and they're the perfect blend of crispy and chewy and cheesey deliciousness.  They're also very addicting!
