and I'm nervous

I've read up as much as I can about it..I feel like for every wonderful thing I hear about it, I hear about someone getting pregnant on it or something else bad happening. I've been on the pill for 6 years now and got off it for a little b/c the new pill I was on was making me PSYCHO! I really like that the paraguard IUD can still protect me but has no hormones with it..I'm just still really nervous about it and that I'll be one of those people that it doesn't work with haha. Any reassuring thoughts??
Re: getting the IUD today
I've got a Mirena which I love. I was nervous before getting mine as well. It isn't the most pleasant process, but it's definitely worth it! Just remember that people who have had trouble tend to be the ones who have posted about their experiences. Most people get them and go on quietly with their lives.
You'll do great

I've had the Paraguard IUD for about 2 months now, and so far I'm liking it. Insertion was not so great for me - not awful, but definitely not great. I haven't had kids though, so that might have had something to do with it.
I've had 2 periods thus far with the IUD in. The first one was kinda crazy - way heavy bleeding and cramps and I was so bloated it was painful. Thankfully my 2nd period was much much better, still heavy, but better. My Dr said that it usually takes 3-6 mos for periods to calm down, so I feel better knowing that.
Despite the periods, I love being hormone free and also not having to worry about taking a pill every day. Despite the unpleasantness in the beginning, I would definitely recommend it.
Keep in mind that people like to talk about the unusual stories. IUDs are more effective that BCP (and there are people who get pregnant on the pill, too)
I had a paragard for about 5 years, removed because we're TTC. My periods were a lot heavier and more crampy, especially for the first 9 months, but I thought it was worth it, and I'd do it again.
