Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. Re: can i paint this?
Sure! I'm not sure if it's real wood or particle board. If it is laminate/particle board you can still paint. Here's some directions I found: http://livingwithlindsay.com/2009/05/how-to-paint-laminate-furniture.html
You could line the back with pretty paper or fabric too if you wanted.
You could also pick up a couple of nicer handles to make it look a little more fancy
I have a plain boring bookshelf that I got from walmart I'm thinking of fancying up myself. It's sturdy and works great, but it's not that nice to look at!
I fully believe it redoing pieces of furniture. I would think you could paint it.
What about painting the doors with that chalkboard paint. Since you are putting it in the kitchen the kids could color on that while you are cooking.
What color are you doing the kitchen?

the wall color is light purple, black cabinets and white counter top..the floors are real wood
