Clitoris?

Do you say Clitter-iss? Cli-tore-is? Something else?

I know, totally random, but Huz and I were debating how to pronounce it and it made me laugh, so I figured I'd post and ask you all. Hopefully it helps with Project Board Revival.

Well if you watched Seinfeld then it's Cli-tore-is.

If you were me in HS then your nickname was Clitory, given to me by my friend Gina who was nicknamed Va-Gina.

hahahha..you are so random, i swear!

to answer your question..i never paid attention to the way i say it. so here i am saying it both ways in my mind, trying to decide which way sounds better. lol i think i'm going with option B- cli-tore-is

also, when i first met J he thought it was 'click-tortus' . to this DAY me and my niece tease him about that. that poor thing had A LOT to learn when i first met him. i've taught him well though

I guess if I say it quickly it's the first way. But if I'm saying it a little more properly I'd say it the second way.

And yes, I'm laughing at myself trying to figure out when I actually say it "quickly" or "properly".

I say it the first way, that's what my mama taught me. Though she also pronounces 'hacky sack' like 'hockey sock' so now I'm curious. I'd google it but I'm afraid of what might come up! And can I just say that 'clitter-iss' makes me think of glitter, which in this context makes me think of vajazzling? Look out for the next big thing in...um...personal grooming?

I pretty much try to avoid using that word if I can (which is usually pretty easy). I'm not sure how it would come out naturally, because I've always had the pronunciation debate in my head any time I've ever needed to say it.

LOL! I was thinking this, too! We used to call Comparative Literature majors Clit majors. I can never hear the term without thinking of that. I emphasize the first syllable.
