internet provider recs

Hey ladies! I just moved into an apartment actually in Austin (woot!!) and now I have to look into getting internet. Who do you recommend for internet service? I'm trying to go with as cheap as possible. If it makes any difference, I don't think I'll actually have my desktop computer hooked up, just a laptop. Right now, I know Time Warner is about $30 a month which isn't too bad, but if anyone knows of anything cheaper, I'm interested Big Smile

Re: internet provider recs

  • We have a cable/phone/internet bundle with TWC, so I'm not much help. Congrats on the new apartment!
  • Look into uverse.
  • we've had TW, we've had Uverse.  we like Uverse better.

  • We have the Time Warner package.  I hate them and I would change if I could.  (Sorry, I know that doesn't help you.)

I've heard that Uverse is good, though.  That's exciting that you found an apt.  Now it's time for a housewarming party! Let me know if you want/need any help unpacking or anything.  I need to get out and be productive. :)

  • We have a bundle package with Uverse and we like the service a lot. I can't tell you how much internet costs on its own, though. I also had Grande in another house (we can't get it here) and we liked it a lot. No TW for us since they burned DH a time or two before we were married.

  • Oh yeah, my brother had a Cricket wireless modem in his apt and said the service was bad and customer service was worse.

LOL!!! I'm actually going to try this for a little bit since I won't have my internet hooked up until the 10th! ;) The apartments do have a common area with Wi-fi, but that does me no good if I want to watch tv shows on my computer in the comfort of my bed. :P

I caved and went with TW. Uverse starts at $35 a month and TW is $30. I've always been satisfied with their service, I just hate paying $30 a month.
