I got my IUD today
So I go in this morning and the nurse brings me back and wants me to pee in a cup. Umm, what? No one told me you would need urine, I just peed like an hour ago. But they won't do the insertion until they're sure I'm not KU, on my period of not. So they reschedule me for 145.
I was already sort of nervous about the whole thing, but I told DH and my parents I could go by myself. Well after the morning not going well, DH came home at work to take me to my afternoon appt. We go back, I go in, pee, not KU, back to the room.
The doc says I will feel 2 cramps. The first one wasn't bad, the 2nd, was quite the stinger. Really just a severe period cramp which I'm not used to b/c I've been on BCP for 10 years. Then I've just had a mild period cramp feeling the rest of the afternoon.
Honestly it wasn't bad at all. I'm glad to be throwing out the BCP. He'll check it at my annual (it does have strings that sometimes the guys feel) and then when we're ready to TTC I go in to have it taken out and we can start right away.
Re: I got my IUD today
It used to be that way, but now doctors will do them even if you haven't had a child. I would ask again. I got the mirena, but I think that was doctor preference, not sure if some are only for post baby or not.
BCP was making me crazy and my sex drive was minimal in the last year or so.
Plus once you want to TTC, you can right away, no waiting for your cycle to regulate like BCP to.
