Health insurance

Hi! I sorta lurk around here sometimes.

Anyways, I live in Ontario. After I got married, I didn't bother to change my name on my health card because I have the old red and white one that doesn't need to be renewed. But now I have insurance through my job, and now I'm wondering if my insurance being in my married name and my health card (prescriptions, etc) in my maiden name will screw things up. Anyone else encountered this problem?

Re: Health insurance

  • I still rock the old red and white in my maiden name and have had no problems.
  • The only problem I foresee, is your prescription will be in your maiden name, but your insurance is your married name. So if you have automatic electronic payment (ie. if your insurance will directly pay the prescription at a drugstore) you may have issues from the pharmacist. But I think as long as you have ID in both names it should be fine.
