We're pre-approved!
DH has a phone interview in a bit, so he took the day off from work today, and he and I used some of the time to go get pre-approved for a mortgage! We realized that we can't afford our rent if I lose my job, but with the inheritance money I'm due to receive, we can afford a mortgage so long as we put down a BIG down payment. We are seeing more houses this weekend. Here's hoping!

How hard was it to get preapproved? How long does it take? My husband is currently in charge of this and it's driving me over the edge because it's taking forever for him to get the paperwork form our bank... and our realtor keeps asking if we've gotten pre-approved yet. I'm sick of nagging DH but he handles most of our finances!

It was actually really easy. You need your W-2s from the past two years, the statement of account showing where the funds are coming from, and your past two pay stubs. It took about 45 minutes.
