does anyone still read their local paper?
I was getting only the Sunday paper delivered to our house. I got a renewal notice in the mail, and realized that I'm paying more than the cover price for the subscription. It is normally $1.50, and I'm paying almost $2.00. WTH?!?! The main reason I have a subscription so that I get a discount on the price. I called them up and cancelled my subscription. They are so lame. I usually go to the supermarket on Sundays, so I'll just pick up a paper then.
I realized that I usually only read the ads. I read most of my news online these days.
Re: does anyone still read their local paper?
FYI to you and anyone who has cancelled their subscription. You'll start to get a call from a Saint Charles Missouri soon. Actually I haven't had a paper in almost a year I think but this telemarketing place works for all the papers in the U.S. and they're targeting folks who have cancelled and they'll call multiple times a day and won't leave messages. I am on my last nerve with them and shouldn't have to call in to be removed because you can't do it with the person that calls.
But I was going to just start buying at the store on Sundays for the coupons but then I'd have to go back home and go through them and go back out so I haven't done it yet.
Ugh, really!?! How annoying for you. What are they trying to sell?
I buy the Sunday paper mainly for the coupons and the ads. It's like a routine for me tho. Go out, get the paper, maybe get a breakfast treat (starbucks coffee and a pastry? my parents always got donuts on Sundays that we would eat while reading over the paper and I guess I got used to it) come home and read over the paper.
I looked into getting the home delivery for Sunday only and it was also more expensive that way. Sunday papers are $2.00 here, and I think each month for delivery was around $12, so yeah definitely more.
I get most of my news online, too.
My local newspaper doesn't really have any news in it, so no.
I do have an on-line subscription to my home town paper though so that I can keep up with the happenings there.
