Anyone want to help with baby shower ideas?
XP from Entertaining Ideas (it's kinda dead over there today).
One of the
girls in my class is pregnant, so we're going to throw her a shower.
There will be 14 people coming to my house for an afternoon tea/sweets
party.
I would like to do a 'Bun in the Oven' theme since we're all bakers, but am not finding a whole lot of stuff online.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Re: Anyone want to help with baby shower ideas?
let's see...since it's all just sweets and tea, this should be easy!
hot cross buns
cinnamon bun cupcakes
cinnamon roll cookies
decorated sugar cookies like these: http://bakeat350.blogspot.com/2009/11/bun-in-oven.html
maybe some fresh baked bread...french bread? with butter
then just like some fresh fruit and different tea flavors for people
This is more along the lines of what I'm looking for - of course I have the food covered - that part is easy. But, I'm not very good with decorations etc...

ahhh i see. i guess i was understanding what it was you needed help with!
You could find a super cutesy apron and have people fill the pockets (if it has one) wiht notes to the new mother. i've seen people do the mini spatulas as favors.
you could have everyone bring a favorite family dinner recipes to fill a recipes box for easy meal ideas for the dad-to-be to make when mom comes home wiht baby.
you could do a small bakery box and put a cinnamon bun in it as a favor.
thats about all i can think of

How about a favor with something like the "bun in the oven" favor that this site shows? You could do it with pink/blue/whatever color paper and then put a mint or something round/small as the belly/bun in the oven.
Even something like this is cute.

Funny you mention this, on gilt.com right now they have 'bun in the oven' part favors you can get. Its a little cinnamon bun candle in a fake pastry box.
I don't know that I would go crazy with theme specific decor, just set your house up for a cute tea party and throw in the favors to go along with the theme.
Great ideas ladies! Thanks so much!
In all of my Googling today I found out that a shower for a 2nd, 3rd...etc...baby is called a Sprinkle. Has anyone ever heard of this? I sure haven't.
But, now I have a great backup plan if the 'bun in the oven' thing doesn't work - I think a cupcake and sprinkles theme would be adorable!
