BWCA peoples...

Trying to book our BWCA trip for this summer and I am looking for an entry point suggestion.  I've only been up there twice and am not too familiar with a lot of the lakes.

We'd like to camp on the lake we enter into.  We only have 3 nights and don't want to spend time portaging.  We were on Brule this past summer, but didn't like it all that much.  So if you know of any great entry lakes please pass them along here!

TIA!

Re: BWCA peoples...

  • Last summer we camped on Lake Disappointment (which is beautiful) and went in at Snowbank.  Snowbank is a large lake and is also open to motor boats on half of it so if it is windy it can get a little iffy, but once we got on disappointment it was worth it.  You can get there with either one long portage or two short ones if you want to detour through Parent lake, which I believe has two camp sites on it (also beautiful)  There were some fun day trips we took from our camp site to explore other lakes.
