Does your DH ride bikes?

DH is 6'5" and wants a bike.  It would just be recreational, around our neighborhood, park, etc.  I am thinking about buying him (us) one as a surprise but I don't know what we should buy.  Also, since he is so tall, I am worried that I am going to buy one that is too small.  Any thoughts or advice?

Re: Does your DH ride bikes?

  • DH and I both ride. We both have road and mountain bikes. If he's not looking into seriously riding for sport, then I would steer clear of road bikes. They get pretty expensive. Hybrids and cruisers are probably a good option for riding around the neighborhood. We used our mountain bikes primarily until we got a little more serious about longer rides. Mountain bikes require more work on roads than road bikes, but you can take them onto paths and trails in a heartbeat.

Find out his inseam and leg length and head to a good bike shop (not a box store that happens to sell bikes). The salespeople will be able to help you to determine the right size bike for him, and a good bike type based on the activities you're looking at.

And definitely get one for yourself. We've had a great time riding around! I love it because it's low impact exercise, which my knees appreciate!

We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.
