How often do you go to the grocery store?
My co-workers think I'm nuts. I try to limit how often we go to the
grocery store because I cannot stick to a list. Since we've had the
baby, we've been going every three weeks. Week 1 is salads and fresh
veggies and fruits that spoil quickly ( like strawberries/blueberries).
Week 2 is fruits and veggies that don't spoil as quickly (like apples,
oranges, sweet potatoes) and/or frozen veggies. Week 3 is frozen fruits
(smoothies) and frozen veggies. They say I'm a minority because most
people go to the grocery store at least once a week. It inspired me to ask you all..

Re: How often do you go to the grocery store?
Lately, every week. Once the little bugger started eating full on human portions of every meal, we're there every week and not cheaply. I do make sure though that he and us always have fresh fruits and veggies.
I was just saying today how we go way too often. Pre-child eating machine, we'd go every two weeks and a lot of time we'd go 2 1/2, etc.
I can't only imagine when baby #2 starts eating big boy food. Luckily that is far away
Probably twice a week on average. Once a week for major shopping and often another smaller trip (usually to a different store) to buy sale items and/or whatever I forgot to get on the first trip. Even though I meal plan and shop with a list, I somehow always manage to miss something.
I could never go to the store less than once a week. I can only fit three gallons of milk in my fridge without major rearranging and we go through that in a week.

once, sometimes twice (or more) a week.
How does your food last that long that you can go so infrequently? We throw out so much wasted food as it is, going once a week...
My Wedding Bio! Not updated in a LONG time!
I should say that DH does stop and get milk in between. Other than that, we don't buy anything in between. Believe it or not, we throw nothing away. Pretty much ever. I make HUGE batches of food. One for us to eat now, one for the freezer. I only make one meal at a time and we eat leftovers until they're gone. When the leftovers are gone, then I'll make a new meal. End products always get made into something else. Bananas when they get a little brown go in the freezer- perfect for smoothies the 3rd week. Bread that's getting stale (I am now making all my own) gets dried out to make breadcrumbs. Apples that are soft get made into applesauce. I'll throw a bunch of veggies that I think are at the end of their lifespan in the crockpot for veggie soup or tossed in a skillet for a stir fry. Creativity is key!
Wow! That would take some serious planning and creativity! And a husband who is not picky....he says he eats anything I make, but he's crazy. I know exactly what he will and will not eat which is why he eats what I make. Anyways, on Sundays I browse the circulars. Whichever store has the best deals overall is the winner. I basically plan meals based on what is on sale. I plan for about 6 meals knowing that on the weekend we'll either get pizza or something like that or be at someone else's house or eat leftovers. I usually end up forgetting something or we run out of something I thought we had enough of for the week (like coffee creamer) and end up having to go back to the store mid-week. So I go about twice a week.

This
Veggie Soup is the best way to NOT throw away stuff!
I've been diligent about this - it really stretches those fresh veggies and meals
We menu plan on Sundays and I go shopping on Mondays. Sometimes we need milk, but I have Tim pick it up on his way home. Usually every two weeks it's a "big" trip.
This is pretty much us... I've really been making an effort to plan better and for us to eat better since MJ has been in the picture, but a few nights a week I'll call Mike on the way home and ask him to pick something up at the store. We plan sunday mornings over coffee now and one of us will go in the afternoon. It's been working well for us so far.
