Re: Oscars?

  • Not too many surprises with the award winners.

I liked Anne Hathaway as a host, James Franco not so much. He didn't seem into it at all.

Natalie Portman is such a cute pregnant lady.

  • I thought that James Franco bombed, honestly. I liked the opening video fairly well, and I loved the musical segment, but I think he looked stoned the entire time. Anne Hathaway carried the show I think, but even at that, she didn't blow me away.  For some reason, I felt like a lot of the award winners, and even people being interviewed on the red carpet seemed so inarticulate. There were moments that were painful.

Also, I love Kirk Douglas, and I love that he presented, but after it started to get long, it started to get a little awkward. I wasn't really surprised at all by any of the award winners. Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Picture were a sure thing. I wish I would have done a ballot this year!

Oh, and I am sorry, but there was an abundance of ugly dresses I thought.

Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO

  • I thought they were ok, and didn't last forever, which was nice.

I liked Anne Hathaway and her many costume changes. James Franco seemed really uncomfortable.

I loved Reese Witherspoon's dress, and Sandra Bullocks. I wasn't a huge fan of Natalie Portman's. I thought it looked like all of the other dresses she wore to other awards shows this year. There has got to be another way to dress a pregnant lady for an awards show.

I think it's great how Robert Downey Jr. is willing to make fun of himself. Maybe Charlie Sheen will be there in 10 years, making fun of himself.

And DH and I tied in our annual competition to see who can pick the most Oscar winners. We watch every year, and he usually wins.

  • I didn't see any dresses and say, "Oh, I LOVE that."  I was pretty "Meh" about all of them.  And I didn't love most of the hair (especially Reese Witherspoon's and Scarlett Johanssons")

I am crushing something fierce on Colin Firth.  I think he is very quickly climbing the ranks on my favorite actors list.

James Franco was a weirdo aloof goober who should never have been asked to do that. Was he stoned??  I can think of 100 people who would have been better.  Anne did as well as she could I think but like PP said, I wasn't blown away.

I could have done without all the trips back in time they did.

I want to see The King's Speech again.

    Who invited Celine Dion??  Angry

  • I agree that none of the dresses were overly stunning to me. There were some I liked.

    I did like Annette Benning's dress ...

Liked Amy Adams too, I'm a huge fan of that color on her:

Also, did anyone else think that Gwyneth Paltrow's singing was horrible? I didn't see the movie she sang in, but I've always been a fan of her acting and was excited to hear her sing. Very disappointing. I didn't like her as a singer. At all.

She has done a better job at other awards shows but last night she bombed.  I also thought Mandy Moore didn't sound that great.

The Kirk Douglas part made me a little squirmy.  I get why they did it...it was just a bit long and uncomfy because I couldn't understand a lot of what he said.  I'm just glad he was able to pronounce the winner's name well enough that she knew who she was!!  (And how awkward was her speech??)

I didn't get a lot of the bits that the presenters were trying to do:  Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, Roberty Downey and Jude Law.....   I just did not find them funny.

The autotuned singing movie bits were stu-pid!  And random.  Lots of stuff they did seemed random.  They could easily get that show done in way less time.

Hmm.  The more I critique it all the more I realize I did NOT like most of it!

  • I wasn't too impressed about much last night.  I thought the hosting was horrible!  I am pretty sure James Franco was high, and Anne Hathaway annoyed me almost every time she spoke!  Some of her dresses were horrible, like this one....

    image

Best dressed for me: Hailee Stenfeld, Michelle Williams, (I love her hair too, so flattering on her!), Halle Berry and Amy Adams (minus her necklace)

Worst: Cate Blanchette, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Hudson, Reese Witherspoon, and Melissa Leo

Mandy Moore did sound horrible....actually all the songs were pretty bad, IMO.

I loved the guy who won for the best action short, with the big hair....best speech of the night!

  • I think they both were terrible hosts, but I liked James Franco a little better, if only because he reminded me of Daniel Disario from Freaks & Geeks. Unfortunately, that's probably not a big compliment to his hosting.

I LOVED the dress that the winner of the best foreign language film wore. And Helen Mirren's dress, but I always love what she wears.

  • Was not impressed with the hosting, but Anne looked great. I really liked Michelle Williams' dress. I really wish there weren't so many Best Picture nominees. I'd like to see Tom Hanks host in the future.

  • I turned it off after best animated movie.  It was ackward and boring.

I didn't watch the red carpet, but I reviewed the dresses in a Yahoo gallery this morning.  Nicole Kidmans dress was ugly and Reese Withersppon looked like she was wearing a bad prom dress from 1999.  I really liked Mila Kunis dress, the color was really pretty on her.

DH loved that dress!  Haha.  I wonder what the material looked like in person.  It looks like something that wouldn't photograph well but might be pretty in person.

I HATED her hair where it looked like she had a big braid wrapped around her head.

When did Tom Hanks get so old?

  • I missed the show but want to check out the dresses.  Where would be the best place to go online to see everyone?  Most sites only have a few of the best and worst and I want to see them all!

DH asked if that dress was made out of plastic. :P I also hated the dresses worn by Reese Witherspoon, Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johansson, Helena Bonham-Carter, Melissa Leo, Annette Benning, Rhea Durham, Virginia Madsen, Florence Welch, and Maria Menunos. Wow. That is a LONG list.

I think the only ones that I really loved were Halle Berry and Hillary Swank....and a couple of the ones that Anne Hathaway wore, but I lost count after like 6 dress changes.
