Cooks - please explain to me the difference between hard-adonized and regular non-stick.
My assy shiity Paula Deen cookware that I got for my wedding already needs replacing. I've been shopping around for new stuffs. Can someone explain to me the difference between hard-adonized and regular non-stick cookware? If you think this is a stupid question, I don't care. Answer it anyway. TYIA!

ok, I have no idea if this is actually true, but this is what I was told when we were registering. No idea what the material difference is, but it basically makes the non-stick surface less sensitive. Whereas regular non-stick you can only use plastic spoons and silicone coated utensils, hard adonized is more durable, can stand up to metal utensils.

and I freaking love it. I stir with metal spoons all the time and it still looks brand new. We got one of the smallest sets (lets be honest, who needs 20 different pans!), I think from C&B. BBB has it too, but only in the larger sets.
I have the same set Neuner does- and I used a metal turner on the multifunction pan once and scratched it. That's the only pan I've damaged though, and we cook every day.
And Neuner is right- hard adonized means the metal itself has been treated to repel stickiness and the non-stick usually means a coating.

I have the same ones Neuner and Mary have and I love them. I got the set at Macy's and it came with a free set of silicone and plastic utensils. I hate the sound of metal on metal so it doesn't bother me that I can't use metal on them.
One of my pots scratched because of the potato masher. Stupid me didn't think anything of it and it scratched the sides. I'm so sad.
The people I nanny for have the hard-adonized All Clad ones and they're scratched too because they use metal utensils.
