SO: Sookie Stackhouse fans...
I read the first book and was shocked to find out I didnt like it. I was bored with the whole thing and thought it was kinda off the wall. I just couldnt get into it. Does the rest of the series get any better?
Also, one of my friends also suggested that I watch True Blood, maybe I would like it better. I saw the first 2 episodes and was again not impressed.
Im surprised though since I usually like the whole vampire thing.

I loved the first season of True Blood - it's okay if it's not your thing though. It's not like you have to like something becuase it's popular.
Things do pick up once the whole Sookie-Eric-Bill triangle gets going. Personally, I love the tv show, not just because of the plot, but also because I think it's a fascinating allegory for the myriad of kinds of discrimination that happen in our society.
Her other series are, IMHO, better written. I'm reading the Lily Bard mysteries right now and am enjoying them a lot.

Personally I hated the 1st season of True Blood... thought it was too much "look how risque we are because its HBO" with all the vamp sex... the plot was sorta predictable, I just didn't care for it.
We just finished season 2 a few wks ago... as much as I hated Mary Ann, the season overall was a lot better. Definitely interested in seeing where season 3 goes (even though I heard its not as good)....
And yes, I didn't read the books

I'm no help. I loved the books starting from the first one although things do get much more interesting later in the series.
As far as the show, I also love True Blood and again, from the first episode I was hooked.
I read all the books before I watched any of the series. The series is pretty different from the books and I didn't care for it as much. I don't like the way the t.v. show portrays some of the characters, Sookie in particular.
ETA: The Lily Bard books are awesome. She's a very complicated character.
