I hate having to dress up!
Especially now that my daily wardrobe consists of sweatpants and t-shirts! I went through all my old work clothes finally and they were all either too big or were definitely from my skinnier days! I have a wedding to attend in April and I am not sure what to wear. I went and tried on dresses and found a cute, a little above the knee 3/4 length sleeve dress. It is black and has shiny black stuff (excuse my lack of terms) around the neckline and bottom. With a coupon that will cost about $28 (SCORE) or I could always go with pants and a shirt, but those would need to be new too. I don't want to spend a ton since the likelihood that I will wear it again is low. I like the idea of a cheap dress, but I hate my bubble butt and legs in dresses... Anyone have any advice? I seriously have no clue what to wear!
Re: I hate having to dress up!
Ditto this exactly. I would wear a pair of dress pants (I LOVE trouser style dress pants, they hide my wide thighs), a nice top and cardigan.
Something like this top:

With a neutral cardigan. Some earrings like these:

and maybe a few bangles would look adorable. You could even wear a cute sandal that you'd wear again. That's dressy and summerish. (As long as the wedding isn't black tie/cocktail attire)
I'm a big fan of simple knit dresses. They are timeless, travel well, comfortable, multi-purpose, and can be accesorized very easily.
Perhaps something like this, http://www.rei.com/webservices/rei/DisplayStyle/778620?source=gpla&preferredSku=7786200019&cm_mmc=cse_froogle-_-datafeed-_-product-_-7786200019&mr:trackingCode=95984FFE-FB85-DE11-B7F3-0019B9C043EB&mr:referralID=NA -- Bonus that it's wrinkle resistant!
I also LOVE all of the dresses from Athleta, http://athleta.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=46838 -- I have a "wish list" from there. :-)
