anyone own/run/work at a franchise?
i have been thinking a lot about opening up a franchise. i was wondering if anyone hear owns/runs/works at a franchise? can you tell me about it? any advice/information would be greatly appreciated!

The franchising company usually gets a percentage of your gross every month--they get paid whether you do or not. This is on top of the initial franchise fee.
No one will care about your business as much as you do, so be prepared to be at work for at least 8-10 hours every single day your business is open. There will also be work at home--bills, payroll, other accounting tasks.
Make sure this wouldn't be your only source of income. Most businesses don't turn a profit for AT LEAST a year.
You need to draw up a business plan before anything else to see if this is really feasible.
I'm a lurker, I just thought I would throw this out there...
When I was very young, my Dad owned a franchise. I just remembering him being very stressed all the time, and working a ton. I also remembering my Mom and him fighting a lot from it. In the end, it was just too much and the restaraunt closed.
~ I'm not trying to deter you from what you want to do, just telling you what I saw of the franchise world.
