Tattoos

Who has one (or more)?

If you have one, what are they of and where are they?

When did you get your tattoo, and is there reasoning behind it?

If you dont have one...have you been contemplating it?

What do you think about people who have tattoos?

Re: Tattoos

  • Who has one (or more)? I do - 5 of them. Well technically more, as the one on my foot and back I got things added to them. If you have one, what are they of and where are they? left hip - sunflower, right foot - shamrock ivy across top of foot down towards ankle, right ankle underneath ankle bone - small shamrock, left foot - ducks feet, lower back - two chinese symbols (courage & strength) in the center and tribal art on each side. When did you get your tattoo, and is there reasoning behind it? my first tattoo I got 10 years ago, slowly added since then. They all have meaning.  If you dont have one...have you been contemplating it? I have been contemplating getting a couple more - one for Emmy somewhere. Thinking her footprints on my ribs What do you think about people who have tattoos? I love them! I think some people can take them to extremes, but they are a personal preference and have meaning for most people. I like to see what people get for tattoos and why  because there is a personal story for them.

  • I  have one.  It's on my lower back (a "tramp stamp"), and it's a simple Celtic knot.  There's not really any meaning behind it, and while I don't regret having the tattoo at all, I do wish that I'd taken more time to decide on something that I really liked and that has some kind of meaning.

I will say that for me, I got the tattoo because it was something that no one would've expected me to do.  It was about a year after xFI broke up with me, and I felt like I needed to do something that was just for me...that it didn't matter what other people thought or whether other people would like it.  So it sort of does mark a certain time in my life, although the design doesn't mean anything.

I have considered getting another one, but I have no clue what I'd want or where I'd put it.

  • I dont have any. I never really wanted one so never been tempted. Others have them and that is fine. Like Mel said some take them to extreme and I think it looks a little tacky, especially the ones who have one everywhere and you basically can't tell where they have skin as it is just tatooes. Hate to see what they will look like when they get old and wrinkled.

Im thinking about getting one, and like you said the extreme is what turns me off about them.  I would like to get one when I finish researching my irish heritage, Im just a little nervous about it bc it is so permanent (well not really anymore, but YKWIM right?).
