*EDIT...I can't get the pictures to come up. Links below
I've been looking for a loveseat for our living room for a few months now. We only have a couch now and there's never enough seating when we have peeps over. I've really been drawn to white/offwhite couches. My sorta plan was to find a nice, cheap loveseat on craigslist and make slip covers for it and our couch. I've been looking forever and they're either total pieces of crap or they cost an arm and a leg.
I saw a flyer today at work. This girl that I sorta know (she's good friends w/ an old coworker) is selling a cream colored couch and loveseat! $300 for both. They're 5 years old. They look a little disheveled, but not too bad. Plus, I know that they come from a good, clean home...not some totally random stranger.
We're not going to be able to buy brand spankin new furniture, probably ever, so part of me wants to just take a leap and get em.(also, her living room wall color is the exact color of our living room, so it makes it easier to picture
)
Opinions?
Re: couch opinions, please :)
I'm not sure if it's just my computer or not, but I can't see the pics. Sounds like a great deal though!

300 isnt bad at all for 2! I like them
One thing though. We also bought our couches off people my Mom knew. One of them was a PB couch-similar style to what you are buying and the cushions got flat. BUT, if the construction and frame is good, the cushions can be re-stuffed. Our other sofa, I love. The cushions are heavy duty foam, and after almost 4 years they still havent gotten flat! Just something to think about.
Rent a carpet cleaner with a hand attachment and clean them and they will be like new! (My parents bought me a small bissell one for Christmas bc I clean our sofas every couple months, haha!).

we won't have toddler aged kids for probably 2 or 3 years. i do have white cushions in my dining room chairs and I'll say they are very dirty from the handful of times my niece and nephews have been over! but that's from them eating and dropping things or wiping their hands on them! haha
we won't be letting them eating on the couches at least. if it's a real huge problem with kids, I can either go ahead and make washable slipcovers, try a cleaner like kellie suggested or we're only $300 in..it wouldn't be a huge loss to get something new.
and murph is not allowed on the couch. he sneaks in a lounge occasionally when we're not home, but I could put a blanket down on the couch if I know we're leaving and he might get up there. we usually restrict him to the kitchen.
kellie, good call on the cleaner! I'll have to look into that.
the bottom cushions are a little frumpy, which is the only thing that concerns me. The girl said they're both super comfortable. kellie, my mom thought we could probably get a piece of foam and add into the cushions to fluff it up more. Do you think you could get totally new cushions?
The back cushions and rest of the couch look great for 5 years' worth of use though, I think.
she's sending me the measurements today so I can make sure they're going to fit well in our living room. so I guess I'll make my decision then. eek!
Yeah, you can just buy some foam and cut it down to the size of the cushion, you can get it at any fabric store, but it isn't cheap. I have no idea where to get totally new cushions...I have wondered that myself.
And, if you were curious, here's the cleaner we have:

I do have a slipcover for one of our sofas, bc it's flamingo pink velvet LOL. I got two slipcovers on sale years ago, and before I learned how to sew, my Mom sewed slipcovers for the removable cushions with one of them. I only use those when we have company over bc slipcovers are a PITA
Hope that helps you!
