So, what's your flower and why?
It's March, ladies!
What is your favorite flower (or good enough to be your sig) and why?
Re: So, what's your flower and why?
Mine are Peach Blossoms. I dont' have a favorite flower that you'd find in a shop. My dad was a Peach Farmer for most of my life, so I've always appreciated the beauty of the Peach Blossoms that arrive in the Spring and are quickly gone because they form a Peach as the warm weather progresses.
They'll always bring a rush of happiness to me.
Mine is the twin flower (linnea borealis). It grows in northern forests and is a tiny delicate flower with two stalks--stemming from a single stalk--which both produce a blossom. And they have the sweetest little round leaves.
When Matt and I first met, we went on a nature tour of a forest in Finland and saw these beautiful delicate pink blossoms creeping along the forest floor everywhere. It was raining heavily, but it was one of my favourite memories of falling in love with him.
I included twinflowers on our invitations too (in the corners).
And we have twinflower linens for our summer table setting, which we registered for. Matt's German groomsman and his family bought them for us.
Matti buys me linnea jewellery for special occasions too. The artist included little round silver leaves, and the flowers are represented by pink freshwater pearls.
So I have a few in my siggy pic, one is a rose, and the others are variations on mums. I am not usually a rose fan but I love the ones that grow kind of wild and that arent your typical color. And I LOVE spider mums, that was my one request for my bouquet at the wedding is it had to have spider mums.
Really I love any big and bold flower.
Kearstin - I've seen cherry blossoms and orange blossoms but never peach blossoms. Those are so pretty!
I've got several fav flowers, but I had to choose the black magic rose. It's simple, but at the same time I love the texture of the petals. It looks like velvet and I love the deep rich red color.

Those are so pretty, Nukke.
My favorites are mini calla lillies. I just had to use them for the wedding.

Everyone thought I was crazy, because they are sort of a more "formal" flower, and my theme was far from formal. But I just loved the way they looked in the milk glass vases.

The ones in my siggy were on my front porch in a pot last year. I loved them too.
Missing our little turkey.
Estimated Due Date 11/13/12 | Natural Miscarriage 4/17/12
I chose Black Calla lillie (which are actually dark purple)-We used these in our bouquets and Lance's Boutineer for the wedding, and I loved how they turned out! Next is an Iris-I have always loved irises, my mom has a huge flower bed full of them and they were always my favorite, so last year I planted irises along my front stoop and when they came up I was so excited!! Finally Canna's- Canna's are so gorgeous from start to finish, I planted mine in our back yard and thought they were all going to be red and when it came up and looked like the pic below I was so pleasantly surprised.
I love all flowers so picking three was so hard for me, I can't wait until I get to start planting all of my annuals!!
I have too many favorites to pick just a few, but I LOVE:
Dahlias

Spider Mums

Gerbera Daisies

And Tulips (this is my first year growing them, and they just started coming i a week ago!)

Nukke I love your flower and the story behind them, that's so romantic.
Mine is the rose, I love all of them but specifically our Soaring Spirits Rose (our first that we planted together). It's a hybrid, cross-bread to honor the victims of 9-11 and it's the most beautiful rose in bloom, and has such a great fragrance without being overpowering.
Joe took the pic below of it a few years ago

I loved the mokara orchids - they were used in my bouquet, and were strung interspersed with crystals on clear lines to make a backdrop for our ceremony.
I just think they're cheerful and elegant
I looooove Orchids. I'm just too lazy to make a new siggy. Honestly I enjoy any type of orchid, there's so many. They mainly symbolize 3 things: Strength, beauty and luxury.
Although I don't have a particular one picked out yet, my next tattoo will be of orchids with a butterfly. All for symbolic reasons. But that's a whole other story.
