WWYD?

Since we bought our house almost five years ago, the mortgage has been sold to I think three different companies.  We've only been with this last one for a few months.  We pay into escrow for our taxes and insurance.  We were notified on December 21st that we had an escrow overage of close to $1000 and that we would be receiving a check within 30 days.  30 days came and went and nothing.  I called the company (located in West Palm Beach, but with obviously foreign employees working the telephones).  The only reason I say this is that it was awfully difficult to communicate every time I've called.  With the first call she asked me to wait another week and see if it arrived.  A week later I called and the guy said he would order a stop payment on the first check and issue a second.  I waited two weeks and nothing.  I called again and he said the check had just been mailed that day and should arrive any day.  That was over two weeks ago.  What should I do?  Call again?  Demand that I talk to someone in charge?  I wish we could just deduct that amount from our next payment, but I'm sure that will screw everything up.  WWYD?

Re: WWYD?

  • Do you have online access you can check out?  I know with GMAC we can look at our account activity and confirm if a check has been sent out when we have escrow overages.  That might giving you a better idea of when they actually cut it so you know when to call.

  • can you demand a tracking number at this point?  I would talk to someone above the people you are getting on the phone.

  • Oh, I'd be on the phone demanding to speak to someone important immediately. Fax a letter. Get a tracking number, demand it be sent overnight. But I'm a b!tch when things get screwed up - just ask my car finance companies when it took them 8 weeks to send me information and it ended up being the WRONG information that I have to get somewhere else.

Yeah, I told them what I thought. ;-)
