For those who remember the story of my BIL...
Re: For those who remember the story of my BIL...
That's the worst part. They just made him look like a deranged criminal. y sis and nephew are ok and have support, but Scott is pretty much screwed. It's a small town and it was on the front page of the paper. I bet Scottie even hears about it from the other kids at school (he slept through the whole "domestic distrubance", which was just Scott yelling and not calming down so my sister called the police). Not cool.
I sent my FIL the article link and he says he would love to help out. He was saying that your BIL should be able to claim rule 11 (or similar in that state) and should be able to be proven incompetent to stand trial since his HD is this bad now. He can try to help; he knows how to use the system to HD patient's advantage (unfortunately criminal trials are common thing with HD patients since they lose their inhibitions).
Good to know. I'll mention that to my sister. I know he is undergoing a psych evaluation too, so hopefully all of this makes them realize that he is no longer in control so they can't hold him accountable for his actions the same as anyone else.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for your thoughts ladies! Everyone is hanging in there and my sister has had an outpouring of support from the community. She is going to speak to the caseworker and give him her two cents that she thinks Scott belongs in a medical facility and not in jail. hopefully someone listens.
I am so sorry, Kel. That is absolutely awful how they ran that story without knowing what he is going through. Many T&P's to your sis, your family, and his. I really hope she is able to fight for what's best for him.
