Foot Pain - Help?

I've had bad pain in the bottom of my foot for over a week now, and it's starting to worry me. It seemed to be in the arch, but now seems a little farther back than that, sort of at the junction of my arch and heel. Never had this before. At first I thought it was a weird pulled muscle or something, but now I'm not sure. It hurts like hell to walk on it, though if I'm in heels it's actually a little better. It started just after Wicked, where I wore my Nikes for 3 days... they've never been an issue before. Any idea what the hell I could have done to myself and whether it's likely something simple or something podiatrist-worthy?

Re: Foot Pain - Help?

  • i have no idea, but i hope it feels better soon! it's been a week? might be time to call the podiatrist...
  • I try to diagnose myself on WebMD, which typically ends up telling me something not good, which then makes me run to a Dr.

I say you spring and go see a podiatrist asap.

  • Sometimes I get pain similar to that if my calves are tight.  The muscles are just all pulling, and it goes all the way to my feet.  I tend to get it after long runs, or days when I spend most of the time on my feet, regardless of the shoes I'm wearing.  Makes sense that it feels better in heels because your foot is at an angle where it lessens the pulling on the calves and such.  Did that make sense?

The only thing I've found that helps me is stretching regularly, and ibuprofen.

But, if it's been a week, and it still hurts to walk, I would go see the podiatrist.

  • Go check it out, I'd hate for it to get worse!

  • sounds like it might be plantar fascitis or something like that. if it makes you feel better, i just went to the foot doctor and picked up my orthotics yesterday... that's right I'm 25 and now wearing orthotics :(

I was at the doctor due to ankle pain, but i remember reading about plantar fascitis on the poster while waiting in the exam room. get it checked out!

  • Thanks, if it doesn't go away by the end of the week, I'll head for the doc.  I simply don't have time to take off this week, but definitely next week.

Seriously, thanks all.  I suck at dealing with pain.
