I feel like such a different person this time around. With Cass I was constantly planning and researching every product, method, theory, etc. I know my confidence in what I will and will not need is much higher this time and I have a ton more experience, but at the same time I feel like I'm not doing too much to prepare.
This next one won't really need anything since we got so much from Cass, but part me wants to make sure not everything is a hand me down. I know I won't have showers like last time, but I also know family will be asking for gift suggestions and links to registries. The only thing I can think of is if this one is a boy we'll need clothes.
So... what do you think I should put on my registry? Anything you wish you had gotten for your first but didn't? Anything make having more than one easier? I never had a bouncer for Cassidy, so I'm thinking that may come in handy, but other than that, I can't think of anything other than nursery decor and even that will be minimal. Any thoughts? Suggestions?
Re: another mom question...
I got a wrap for my second..though she HATED it and preferred the baby carrier I already had..where C would have loved the wrap and hated the carrier.
I got new teething toys for R as well. I will keep thinking
You've probably already considered it, but make sure you get a double stroller. I couldn't have lived without it after Mel was born.

hmmmm... really? a double stroller? i was thinking i could get away without one. which do you recommend? the only time we use our Bob now is for going for walks and that one's great because Providence sidewalks suck and we needed big tires. i was thinking i would carry the newbie in a wrap while pushing Cass and then maybe get one of those little ride on stand things for the back of the Bob. hmmm. well, now i have something to research!
also, michele, which video monitor did you love? were you ever able to pick up someone else's signal? that freaks me out, but i totally want one this time around.
we've been out quite a few times with both kids and have not had need for a double stroller (yet). I either put Norah in the snap frame & Jordy walks or I wear Norah and put Jordan in her Joovy (which I can put Norah in if I need to and J can walk). Can't you get an attachments that makes the bob a double? I might be thinking of the p&t =/
I got a moby which I didn't have last time. I still love my mei tai though.
A new camera for our video monitor (we have the summer infant slim & secure).
We got a new highchair for N - the kind that straps to a chair (ILs bought it for her for Christmas
).
Some clothes, sheets & blankets.
I bought a new crib when Amazon had an amazing deal right after I found out I was ku - J was transitioned to her big girl bed before N was born though (not long, but still) so I wouldn't have needed it.
I bought a moses basket for Norah. I used the pnp beside the bed for Jordan, but our room is smaller here than it was in our apartment, so the basket was a great purchase for us - I also got a rocking stand. It doesn't rock much, but enough when I need it to at 3am.
I also bought all new bottle nipples and eventually new bottles (I switched from Dr.Browns to Gerber b/c if she's still on bottles when she needs another surgery lugging them to the hospital is a pita).
Jordan hated the swing, Norah LOVES it so I'm glad I had it, but I wish I had a plug-in one. *IF we decide to have another, I'm buying one that plugs in.
Make sure what you have saved is still in good condition!
Our excersaucer didn't survive storage so I have to order new legs. I have no idea what happened to it, but the plastic peggish parts got bent backward - everything else looks brand new on it and Jordan loved it and used it all the time, playing on it more than in it.
Amy - we have the Summer Slim & Secure monitor. NO signal issues, it's a digital monitor which means it uses security codes built in to only sync with the camera that it is near.
I dropped my parent unit and shattered the screen, so now for us it's just a 2-room monitor. But it was my fav purchase for 2 kids.
I personally can't handle wearing Maddy all the time and dealing with Ben. He's just barely 2.5, I don't want him walking in parking lots and such where it's not all that safe, so I'd rather have the stroller. Maybe wait on the stroller and see how it goes? Maddy is massive (over 20lbs at 10 months old) so wearing her means I can't really pick up Ben, and as short as he is I have to help him with lots of things still too. SO for me, having a stroller where I can strap them both in for safety yet still have my arms and body to lift/etc. is a lifesaver. Plus in the summer if you want to walk think about how hot it is to wear a child ;-) But that's just me - many people don't use one, I just like having my kids strapped in!

hehe Pam I know, I have huge kids too! I do use a carrier as well, but usually when Jerred is with us so I can wear Maddy and he can be with Ben. Alone the double stroller just makes it easier. I even used it grocery shopping with 2 kids alone b/c it was easier than the grocery cart, I just used the basket underneath the stroller for all my stuff!
