XP: 4 Hour Layover in London
We land at Heathrow at noon & take off at 5:00 pm. Is this long enough to go into the city and see anything? I've been to London multiple times previously, but DH has never been.
We had a similar layover in Tokyo and it was quite expensive to get into the city. We didn't get to see much in Tokyo but did go to the fish market for great sushi.

Re: XP: 4 Hour Layover in London
Meehhhh... it's cutting it close. We had a 7 hour layover when we flew through a few years ago and took the Piccadilly tube line to Leicester Square, which takes about an hour - we had about an hour and a half in total and literally ran from Leicester Square to Trafalgar Square to the Horse Guard to Big Ben to Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace to Hyde Park and hopped back on the tube.
The Heathrow Express is faster, about 2 minutes or so, but it's more expensive and takes you to Paddington, so in order to see the major tourist things you'd also have to get a tube from Paddington station to Piccadilly Circus. It's a quick ride but just another step, you know?
Keep in mind if you leave the airport, you have to go back through customs so you technically have to be there 2 hours before your flight. I think it's too short of a time to make it worth it.
Now jumping domestically.
Well that was a crazy couple of years.
And their goddamn stupid security setup if you're going through the new terminal, which takes twice as long as it should as people attempt not to die on the damn escalator.
That aside, there are lots of awesome shopping and eating opportunities in Heathrow.
