so my work is very supportive of pumping, and I am all for it.
my company even gives you a free Medela double electric pump if you have a baby!
all of a sudden, someone in my area (not sure who) is leaving bottles of breastmilk in the little Medela bottles in the fridge, all alone. I know that the pumps come with a little insulated blue bag that you can put the milk in then put that in the fridge (generally there are 2-3 in the work fridges at all times, it's a known fact that breastmilk is in those bags). I am fine with this, but somehow the loose bottles of milk sketches me out. More because I think it's weird that you'd just throw it in there. Yesterday there were two bottles. Today there are six.
Is it me or is this weird?
Re: BFing/Pumping moms
Weird.
I've actually though about this because if I have a kid, I want to try to breastfeed for substantially longer than I plan to stay home. I have always pictured putting bottle in some sort of insulated bag in the work fridge. My coworkers do not need to be reminded that I am pumping.

Our company doesn't allow us to store BM in the mini fridges scattered throughout the company due to the "personal nature" of it and how it can contain certain transmittable diseases. We have to store it in our own personal coolers, but this doesn't bother me at all. With the coolers and the ice packs that come with most pumps, BM is fine stored that way for 10+ hours. Heck, it's good at room temperature for 8 hours. I know people on my floor would be a little sceeved out if I just had my bottles in our mini fridges and I totally understand that, as I would be, too, if another mom's milk was next to my lunch.
On a side note, I'm totally jealous your company gives FREE breast pumps! If I was starting all over Medela wouldn't be my first choice in pump, but I'd certainly take a free one since they are pricey.
Weird!
I put my bottles in an insulated bag in the fridge. Everyone knows what is in the bag but I figure a bunch of guys don't want to be looking at my breastmilk everytime they open the fridge.
(Though today I forgot my bag so they are in their just on the door out of the way so I'm sure nobody will even notice them.)
And how awesome about the free pump!
Hmmm I don't know that I find it weird but then again I don't pump at work.
I'm sure some people find it weird.
If they give you a bag I don't see why she can't just put them in those or bring a little box to throw them in.

Re: the fridges, I don't get why if you put it in a bag it can't go in the fridge, I just think it's odd to be loose in there. We have full-sized fridges in our kitches, several on each floor.
I agree that if it is a community fridge, bottles and bags with milk should go into a cooler/non-see-through container out of respect of others.
There was a woman a few years ago who kept a number of bags of frozen milk in the freezer at work. She could have at least put them all into a plastic grocery bag rather than having them loose around the freezer.
heather/other moms, what pump do you like? everything i've read (though i havent looked extensively) pushes the medelas.
Claire, as to your OP the only time I have put my bottles in the fridge is when I forget my cooler pack, but I put the bottles in either a paper/plastic cup so that someone is staring directly at BM, but if they were to look in the cup they could see the yellow caps on the mini bottles. But it would be a little awkward to see BM in bottles in our fridge just hanging out.
