Initially I read your post title and said in my head "Yes." and then I opened it to read exactly what the genius human race was up to now.
Dumb sailing people- ok, well, they got what was coming to them. Thank you Darwin.
The story of those mothers is just so sickening. How is your "icky" sense not tingling to the point of making you explode at the notion of doing horrible things and then letting a stranger be a part of it!?!?! Are you so concerned about your child that you wouldn't just talk to a local in person doctor, or a walk in clinic if you can't afford it otherwise? If you're on the internet, could you not consult one of the eleventy-billion other slightly more reliable resources out there for assistance, or to at least cross reference for a virtual second opinion?
Dont' get me wrong, I'd do anything for my child if it was for their health and safety, but at some point you'd like to think there is at least a shred of common sense that stops you from say, solving a hysterical crying problem with duct tape over the mouth (that's my own made up example), because you think, "Hm, this doesn't seem right." Sending sexually compromising images of your child to a stranger is one of those things that ought to click as "not right."
The lack of common sense with the boaters makes my head hurt, and I will save you all from the complete rant I could go on for that subject. Given my strong ties to the sailing/boating communities, I find the lack of common sense executed in practice on the water to be painfully mind numbing.
The mothers thing, I'm not even going to touch with a ten foot pole- that is beyond disturbing, and reminds me of a Law & Order: SVU I saw a while back.... ::shudder::
