No Linen Closet Organization

Hi Ladies!

Does anyone have any tips on organizing those extra towels, toliet paper, etc that you would normally put in a linen closet - when you don't have one? When we bought our house DH and i didn't realize it until we'd moved in. And trust me we've learned our lesson.

Thanks-

Re: No Linen Closet Organization

  • We recently converted a coat closet in our house into a linen closet (our house didn't have one). I painted the inside white and took out the coat hanging rod and we installed our own shelves using the metal brackets and the basic white shelves you can get from any hardware store.

Prior to converting the closet, I had to stsore everything in the basement, which was a PITA, but I dreamed of something like this...

Would something like that work for you? You can google search 'linen cabinet' and tons of options come up!

  • The house we're in doens't have one either!   We have a guest room with an armour in it and I use that for towels, soaps, etc and just save a little space for guest's stuff.  I like those little standing closets a lot- but then I'd store the extra set(s) in a bin and rotate since it seems like less storage than what I'm working with.

FWIW, I also love, love rolled towels and clothes on display.  If you rotate often, I would look into loops or open bins to add color to the bathroom.

  • No bathroom storage at all? We don't have a linen closet, but we have decent bathroom storage in 2 of our 3 bathrooms and the towels go there. Sheets we keep in a dresser in each bedroom, so they are easily accessible (which is good because we find ourselves changing sheets at 3am more often than I'd like).

  • I keep the sheets in the rooms. I used to have long sweater boxes that rolled under the bed for extra sheets in the master and guest rooms.

Can you keep towels in a lesser used closet like in a guest room? We rarely use our guest room closet and there are some shelves in there for storage.

  • Thanks ladies! I love the idea of the storage under the bed. Our bathrooms don't have much storage, or I have too much stuff, to really house towels, etc. I have no place to put the vaccuum either. So frustrating!

    The advice was great!

    Thanks again!!!
