Uhhh, MH

Went to Luke's 15 mo appt today, did not write anything down and forgot everything. "uhh, I think they said 90-93-97 %? I don't know."

Re: Uhhh, MH

  • Oh jeez! Didn't he do that last time? Next time make a little notepad attached to a yarn necklace like they do for kids and tell the Dr to write everything on there :P
  • I wouldn't have remembered either; I sympathize with YH.

He heard 90 something % and healthy boy and that's all he needed to know.

  • This is the EXACT reason why I changed Taylor's 1 year appt to a day I had off.  That and it's a pretty important milestone with lots of changes ahead.

  • Sounds like something MH would do.  Call the docs and ask them to print out and mail you the latest growth charts.

  • That stinks! I'm sure the same thing would happen to us too, luckily our pedi sends the girls home with a stickers that has all their measurements on it

  • At the end of our visits they hand us a printout with what shots are given and all the percantages & measurements. I bet your dr. could mail something to you!

  • Yeah, he's funny. Meg, the funny thing is I put a note in his truck this morning telling him the questions to ask the ped :) I guess i should have written to make sure they write it down.

I'm going to call and get the info for his baby book. Ironically, it seems he shrunk an inch Huh?

  • Bah, that sounds like how MH was when he took Lily to the pedi when she had bronchiolitis. He was like "Uhhh, the doctor said we could give her a breathing treatment if we wanted to." I was like "WTF does that mean???"

This is probably why my pedi always writes down the percentiles!

  • Our doctor told us that the percentiles are meaningless.  What really matters is how she is growing in comparison to herself from one appointment to the next.

Needless to say, I don't pay any attention to them either!

Yeah, this is what I was afraid of... He only gained 1/2 a lb and grew -1 inch in 3 months. Hmmm...

  • I wouldn't worry too much about the weight, once babies really start moving, they don't gain much.... and the boys shrunk a couple of times and I think it was just because they had a nurse who was a "stretcher" who tried really hard to get them as straight as possible and some other nurses who didn't put as much effort into it...

but I would call the doc and get the info you are looking for and if there were any questions you wanted answered that YH didn't remember the answers to (or didn't ask) I am sure the nurses could answer them for you, your doc probably would put it in his notes... I know at our peds office they carry around laptops that have all the boys info and notes from their eye doc and K's cardiologist that they can easily pull up if I need a refresher or if they do.

This! We are taught that the most recent evidence shows that it's more important that your child continue to stay at similar percentiles for the first 3 years. But of course, it helps if DH actually gets the numbers for you! LOL
