I am angry....very angry (justifiable, not hormonal)

I'll try to give this to you in English.  My dr said to call her on cd1 of AF and that CD1 is considered even when I spot.  So, I did as I was told and started my clomid on CD3.

Here's the problem.  CD1 was not in fact CD1 because I spotted for 7 effin days before AF REALLY started.  What does this mean?  It means my dr thinks I should be ovulating like right now but....AF is still here.

I"m angry....very angry.

I have an appointment with a specialist.  I also am making an appointment with a new ob/gyn.  I will most likely write a "you're fired" letter to my old one.  If this messes up my body in any way, I will be livid.  So livid I may consider a malpractice suit.  What if this causes problems where I can't have kids or ruins one of my ovaries/fallopian tubes?

Now, I'm terrified.

Re: I am angry....very angry (justifiable, not hormonal)

  • Holy sh!t.

Well, I don't want you to need a med mal lawyer, because that'll mean that you're badly damaged, which is the worst case scenario.  But if it comes to that and you need one, I can get you a referral for a good lawyer out there.  I really hope it doesn't come to that.

What I do hope is that this hasn't actually hurt you at all, except to make you angry.

  • Ok, so I don't know much about what you're going through, but let's look at this rationally.

Did you had a period prior to starting your meds? Is it possible that you're just having a longer period as a sort of "catch up"? My body would always do that whenever I went off bcp. I know it's not the same thing, just thinking along those lines.

I'm sorry you're going through all this, I know it's scary. I'd still probably get a 2nd opinion anyway just to be more comfortable.

  • UGH.  Seriously?  My Dr told me to call and just let the office know when AF started.  Also, I email her. (I spot the first day but don't count CD1 until the next day)

Questions for you.  On CD 21 bloodwork, does it have to be exactly CD21?  Also, do you just take the Clomid?  I've read things about monitoring.  I just have my HSG and CD21 bloodwork.  Is that considered monitoring?

Anyway, seriously cheering you on here.  If you can make it through, I can, even though I know our cases are quite different....

My period was drug induced to begin with.  The drugs tend to make me spot for a week before AF fully hits.  So, no my body isn't playing catch up, it's just what it does.  I'm ok with the cycle being a bust because I figured it would be anyway.  I'm just worried taking the clomid too soon will ruin something.

Questions for you.  On CD 21 bloodwork, does it have to be exactly CD21? No, my dr. said 21-24 because sometimes there's a weekend in there. Also, do you just take the Clomid?  For now, yes.  There may be other drugs involved upon further testing.  I've read things about monitoring.  I just have my HSG and CD21 bloodwork.  Is that considered monitoring? No, monitoring is by ultrasound.  My understanding is the US is needed to 1. make sure your uterine lining doesn't thin and 2. make sure you don't have too many follies or it can result in multiple births.  My regular dr does only bw on cd 21 to test to see if I ovulated (another reason I'm going to the specialist).

Anyway, seriously cheering you on here.  If you can make it through, I can, even though I know our cases are quite different....  they aren't as different as you may think.  Officially there is nothing "wrong" with me other than I can not ovulate on my own.  Supposedly all else is well.  I'm cheering you on too!

  • I think you have every right to be angry.  I hope it won't do any damage.

    Couple questions..

Did you start the clomid on CD1?

When did it say you're suppose to O?

Since the Dr isn't monitoring, are you using OPKs to confirm it's coming, it still may be delayed because of the long spotting.

Ok, well that's all I got for rational explanations. Hopefully a new doctor will actually know what they're doing.

I agree. Even though you are "supposed" to O on CD 13- 17 and you are just now getting full on AF, who knows how the Clomid will affect your O date this cycle. Some ladies actually do ovulate during their periods, especially if they have irregular cycles.

I'm so glad you are seeing a specialist who will better monitor your progress. I'm sending good vibes that this cycle will just be a bust and the Clomid won't hurt you.

    Thanks very much, Ashley.

I will go for my CD21 bloodwork on Monday which will be CD23...  I did e-mail my doctor about that but I imagine she will say what your doctor did.

OH boy, now I'm worried because there was no mention of ultrasounds...  hmmm... I am seriously freaked about more than twins (which seems irrational as it seems I can't even get pregnant but anyway......).

We do 2 rounds of Clomid, then she said she would think about adding other drugs but DH and I may go to adoption at that point.  We're not sure....

Hopefully the Clomid works for both of us.

Also, I really wanted to write, THANK-YOU very much for cheering me on.  That really means a lot to me.
