Blackberry peeps

I may have asked this in the past so I am sorry if I am repeating this.

Does anyone know how to 'suspend' email notification (edit: aka visual notification)? Of course I can silence it but the stupid light still goes off (as well as it showing on the screen when I look at the phone) and just in general I would love to NOT have that distraction I feel like I am walking around with a tether on some days. I use my work phone for personal use a bit as well.

This all stemmed from an email my boss sent to me tonight that I saw the title for which in itself was enough to get me all 'worked up' and I just wish I never saw, this happens often.

Re: Blackberry peeps

  • This might be hopeless I have found this message on two sites. p00p

Even though you will no longer hear email alerts when you receive email messages on your BlackBerry phone, you will still see the message indicator on your screen when you look at it. There is no way to remove the visual indicator.

  • I don't think you can turn the light off, unfortunately.  I just think you can silence the alert.

  • Hmm, I think you might be able to. What is the LED on/off option? I'm looking at my work one (bold) and it gives me the option for emails to adjust the sound or vibration or LED...is that the blinking light?

  • THAT IS IT! B/c I clicked "off" for LED under email notifications and then "try it" and nothing happened - the light kept blinking green (b/c I don't have any new emails) then I turned it back "on" and clicked "try it" and the light blinked red to show me what it will look like...

OMG I am going to try this, I never went into LED option I don't think.

If this works I owe you so big, then again my phone is two years old and kind of dated at this point so who knows.

  • *Summer* under what did you find your email options (my brain is just not working) or LED options.

  • Holy crow I found it!!! It only took two years give or take and the path I had to go on to find the em effer was soooo dumb but was under alerts like I have gone through soooo many times. yay

     Thanks Summer for checking!!!

  • Yep, that's what I was going to say - Alerts. So glad it worked!

Me too, I never would have thought in a million years having emails sent to a phone would mess me up so much, I'm sure dh's account of the maniacal rants I have gone on after catching an evening email would send everyone into hysterics. It's usuall a mix of sarcastic laughter/huffing & pufffing with some half finished sentences, followed up with a lot of 'are you effing kidding me"??!!!!!!
