Flameworthy: Why do people post every move on FB?

I have a friend who just started being SO annoying on FB.

(Deleted because I felt weird having her posts on TN!)

and on and on. Daily.

Flameworthy:

I already try not to judge her because she spends zero time with her DS. Part of it isn't her fault- she has a long commute and so she sees him first thing in the a.m. to feed him, then she leaves and gets home in time to feed him, bathe him, and put him to bed by 7. But now she says there are 4 days a week where she doesn't even see him except in the mornings because of this new gym obsession.

I'm all about carving out me time as a mother, but I think it's kind of weird to have a baby then see it for 30 minutes a day.

  • I 100% agree with you

  • I think people who do that on facebook have some kind of exhibition problem. I have a friend who posted on facebook "My water broke! Contractions 3 minutes apart! I hope I get to the hospital in time!" Umm, you're in labor, why are you on facebook? I think it is literally an addiction.

And as for the mom thing- I can't imagine not going straight home after work. Heck, I can't imagine going to work at this point, because I'm lucky enough to have the option not to. DH is so sad on the days that he has to work late and gets home after DS's bed time (which is 6pm-ish at the moment). So just the desire to go to the gym before spending time with your child? That's something I just simply do not comprehend.

  • I also find it annoying when people have to document every move they make during the day via FB. Really, we don't care.

There's one person I knew in HS and she constantly complains about the things she has to do for her 2 kids...like take them to the doctor. Hmm It is very hard not to judge her. I don't think I do a very good job at it.

  • No flames here.  I should preface this with the fact that I actually do not have a FB account though.  I am anti-facebook in general, but DH has one.....he got it because his whole family is on FB constantly, and they are always putting up pictures from weddings, and parties we have.  So lots of times one of his sisters will email me and say "hey log in to FB to see photos from NYE" or whatever.

Anyways DH's friend and his wife are so weird about FB.  They post everything that is going on, and then comment to each other.  For example we all went to a wedding in CT and they were both posting about driving to the wedding from the car...then commenting on each other's posts...ummm....why not just talk to each other?  Then they posted when they got to the hotel as they were getting ready.  Then when we were actually at the reception they were posting.  "Here at S--- wedding!  Having a great time!"  "Gonna hit the dance floor now.  Great DJ!"  "The food is awesome at this wedding!"  Then commenting to each other.  DH's sisters found this so amusing so showed me.  I just don't get it.  They do it all the time.  One of H's sisters showed me their Valentines Day messages to one another.  So weird.  "Snuggling up to my love on Valentines Day"  "Just sat down together for dinner"  SO WEIRD!  I mean really who gives a F?  Ha ha ha.

Ha ha ha.  I would judge.

  • People like to be the star of their own show.

I'm on FB as little as possible and kind of wish I didn't have an account.  I managed to avoid the whole Friendster/MySpace/etc. craze but finally caved with FB because I was missing out on seeing pictures of friends' babies.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I agree as well. I have a few friends on FB that are like that. They post their every single move all day everyday.
