Which Dyson?

I would really love to get a Dyson because I've heard good reviews.  I am considering buying one off of Overstock.com that is refurbished.  They are a lot cheaper.  Recommend which Dyson I should get.  They have the DC24, DC25, DC17 Animal, DC21, DC14, DC27, DC23, AND DC17 Allergy.  We have three dogs, 1 baby and a one story house.  TIA

Re: Which Dyson?

  • The ball Animal for sure. The ball is easy to maneuver and the small rotary attachment is great to vacuum off the couch, bed, etc and anywhere small that you don't want to lift the vacuum up to clean. I LOVE my vacuum and won't ever buy another brand. It gets up hair you didn't know was there.

  • Does Dyson have a compare model area on their website? That might help you decide. We have the DC25 and love it. We have 1 dog, and 2 long hair cats that shed like crazy. DC25 works great and I am constantly amazed at how much fur this thing sucks up.

Sorry to post hijack...we're looking at dyson's as well and have two shelties that have long hair and shed like crazy...do you find that the hair gets trapped around the brush wheel?  Our current vacuum is getting all gummed up with dog hair on the wheel that its actually melting the wheel.

I haven't had that experience with the hair or fur, however, on occasion a string from one of my throw rugs will get sucked up around the brush. I just cut the string and pull it out with no problems.

  • Animal Ball for sure. Best purchase I've ever made and it had made me love vacuuming because I love to see how much gets sucked up!
  • I have the Dyson D25 and love it, wanted the pet one but didn't have the extra money at the time, but even still with my german shepherd/rottie it gets all the hair up and I use it to even vacuum her bed and the couch. Dyson does have a compare section on their website you just click on browse vacuums and check mark the one's that you want to compare

  • Animal ball for sure!!!  We bought ours with money from our wedding and it's the best purchase we've ever made.  It's CRAZY how fast it fills up!!  That thing has amazing suction and the ball makes it so nice to turn.  It really maneuvers well, and we haven't had any complaints.  We've had it for about a year and a half and like PP said...I actually LIKE vacuuming now!
