THIS post about a night nanny is cracking me up
Re: need some entertainment?
cuz we don't get invaded by moronic martyrs who get their panties in a wad over HIRING A NIGHT NANNY.
i'd be on that ish like white on rice if we could afford it when we decide to have kids.

I've never heard of such a thing, but I can sort of see why. I do think it's just part of being a parent that you sign up for when you have a kid though. It's supposed to suck. How else are you supposed to guilt your children later in life? "I had to spend $$$ on a night nanny so I could sleep peacefully" doesn't sound nearly as impressive as "you cried constantly and I only slept 2 hrs a month. See these wrinkles? YOUR FAULT!"
.... and I confess that I would judge the OP as spoiled. I know someone who has both grandparents in town and are basically at their beck-and-call for their kids. The GP's seem to do more than the parents do. We call them spoiled all the time.
all i know is, if i had the means, i'd much rather spend it on a night nanny than pricey nursery furniture or clothes or whatever.
granted...i know we probably won't ever be in that position. but if you've got the cash flow for it? HECK. YES. are you spoiled if you send your kid to a high-priced daycare?

Meh, Tonif is an attorney she needs to be awake and fully alert during the work hours. For the most part your job doesn't give a hoot if you were up all-night with a crying infant come review/bonus time.
Regarding your aquaintence with the grandparents at beck-and-call, I woud call them "enabled" however I can certainly see why you call thenm spoiled. Mainly because my Parents will tell me to take a hike if I thought she was going to come running everytime I needed something for my kid.
I think that's Haybales' point - if you had the money, a night nanny would be a way better uber-luxury than gold toilets or a mahogany changing table....
Is this a luxury item? Absolutely. Would I judge a parent for getting one? Hell no. That is absolutely awesome that they can afford it, and if she can skip one of the crappiest parts of having a newborn, more power to her. Any woman that has something negative to say is just jealous that she couldn't afford to do it, and hides it under the guise of "well, I love MY baby so I am thrilled to give up sleep for months on end!". Puhlease.
Honestly, the loss of sleep is one of the things that scares me the most about having a baby. I am a hideous biotch when I am low on sleep, and I can't imagine having to do it for months. I plan on BF'ing, so I will have to do all the night feedings for at least 6 weeks so my milk supply is established and so that we don't cause the baby nipple confusion. However, once that time is over, you better believe my H will be getting up at night so I can sleep. We can take turns.
I totally agree with this!
While I think that it is important to bond with your child I see nothing wrong with having someone else burp, change and rock that baby back to sleep after you have fed it. My mom said this is how her and my dad handled my brother and I at night. She would feed us and dad would handle the rest while she went back to sleep.lol, THIS. big time. DH thinks me all hopped up on pregnancy hormones is gonna be rough...i don't wanna burst his bubble that the sleep loss is gonna be WAYYYY worse!!

I like to tease BF that I am going to make him get up in the middle of the night to peel me some raisins or skin me a hot dog. He doesn't think it's funny, LOL.
