I want to get DH a new toy...need suggestions
I have been needing a new computer for awhile now so when DH won money last weekend we decided it was time for my new MacBook. Well...now I feel bad because I got a new toy with his winnings and I think he deserves a new toy also. Not to mention that he's been moping around about it! The problem is I don't know what. I thought about a Kindle but he doesn't like mine so that's out. He doesn't need a new computer and he didn't think the iPad was all the great when we were buying my computer. I'm at a loss...suggestions for toys that your DHs love?? It doesn't have to be electronic, but ideally it would be under $500.
Re: I want to get DH a new toy...need suggestions
I know! That's what I told him! We were actually considering an iMac and an iPad for the portability, but decided against it. I think he'd come around too, but I don't want to get him that and have him be disappointed ya know?
Does he have any hobbies? For example, my DH would kill for some top shelf cooking knives & new pots or a new video/media card for his computer.
Or maybe an experience instead of a thing? Has he always wanted to go sky diving, or kayaking, wine tasting, or get tickets to a sporting event or concert? I love getting stuff like that, especially when there is nothing that I especially need or want.
If I had an extra $500 to spend on DH right now, he'd have his choice between an aluminum fishing boat or a new hunting rifle. I honestly don't think he'd consider anything else. And I have found the "Try it, you'll like it" approach to electronics is a losing game.
If I had an extra $500 to spend for the good of the family, I'd probably look at a treadmill or Olympic weight set.
I still say he'd love an iPad eventually. lol. It's the kind of thing that no one wants to spend the money on b/c you certainly don't need it. But then you get it, and it's amazing. Or so I imagine (since we don't have one yet, ha). It's honestly supposed to be one of the coolest advancements in handheld video games, too. In addition to all the other cool stuff it does. I bet there are so many things he could use it for as a football coach. I could get my H to come up with some things...lol.
AND, you can really knock his socks off with the new iPad2!! Just announced today. So excited!
ha!

Apple has just made its second-generation iPad official! It features a dual-core A5 chip and, finally, cameras, both front and rear! The new CPU is said to be up to twice as fast, with graphics performance up to nine times better than on the original iPad, while power requirements have been kept the same. Battery life is, consequently, unaltered, with Apple promising 10 hours. Pricing, too, has been left unchanged, starting at $499. The new tablet will come with an HDMI output, which will set you back $39 for the requisite dongle, but we've yet to hear any rumblings of Thunderbolt connectivity.
There's a new cover for the device, which is best defined by Steve Jobs himself: "We designed the case right along side the product. It's not a case -- it's a cover." Basically, it's a magnetic flap that protects the front and automatically wakes and puts the device to sleep according to whether it's open or closed. Guess we know what that proximity sensor was about now.
The iPad 2 is 33 percent thinner than its predecessor, at a mind-melting 8.8mm, and will ship in two variants: white and black. It'll be available on both AT&T and Verizon, and all variants start shipping on March 11.
We have an SLR camera but the Kinect might be fun! We have talked about that...who knows when we'd have the time for it though...
Oohh...the BBQ might be good too! He always lusts over them when we go to Home Depot.
Oohhh...new iPad?!? So cool! I know he would love it eventually and I'm sure he'd find tons of uses for it. Maybe I'll try and talk to him about it some more. I think he just looks at it as a bigger iPhone (which he already has the iPhone4).
New camera, iPod, digital photo frame
If it was my DH he would want a firearm.
What's super cool about the Kinect is the video chat. You're able to video chat and play games with others who also have the Kinect and video quality wise, so much better than Skype.
