ok, this will sound stupid, but since we're on the topic...
Do you have to pump into bottles or can you pump into bags so you can freeze it easily? if you pump into bottles do you always feed from those bottles? if you have extra in bottles, do you transfer it to bags to freeze/fridge for another day?
i dont have many friends irl with babies, clearly.
Re: pumping question
I have the medela PIS. I could pump into either the bottles or the bags. The bags that I used had these sticky paper tab things that you wrapped around the valves and kept them attached. Also, if I remember correctly, I could screw my Dr. Browns bottles right into the shields and pump directly into our feeding bottles.
If I pumped for storage, I would usually pump into the bottles that came with the pump (especially at work since they came with a cooler bag and contoured ice pack), and then if I knew I wasn't going to use it within a couple of days I'd pour them into a bag for storage later.
Of course, check out storage safety; I used this site for all my questions

Here are the bags.
ETA: The yellow things on the picture are the tabs I talked about in the above post.

Here is the link to what I bought, sorry it isn't clicky: http://www.amazon.com/Playtex-Drop-Ins-System-Breast-Storage/dp/B0011UH78G/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1299096558&sr=8-7
I pump in Medela bottles then transfer them either to Avent Bottles (these were the ones that worked for her, the other ones made her reflux worse) for her to drink out of or into bags to store.
Yes you can mix them but make sure you label it with the earliest one that was pumped.
And yes, I wouldn't throw out any liquid gold unless absolutely necessary!
I agree that kellymom is a great resource and the breastfeeding board on the bump is a pretty good board most of the time.

I pump into bottles, because I tried to pump into the bags and the logistics didn't work with my klutzy self and I was always so scared I'd spill the liquid gold. We don't feed from the bottles I pump into (Medela bottles) as Mariela didn't do well with them when we first tried out bottles with her.
We use playtex drop-ins, so if I'm giving her fresh milk at my MIL's house she just pours the milk from the bottle to playtex drop-in and then warms in a cup of warm water. I store my frozen milk in the Medela bags (I don't like the Lansinoh ones, they leak sometimes when thawed) and my MIL just thaws and pours straight into the dropin bottles. I always freeze what I pump on Tuesdays and Fridays and use frozen milk on Mondays and Thursdays (I'm home on Wednesdays and nurse directly when I'm home) to keep my freezer stash rotated.
ETA: I also have the playtex conversion kit that Heidi posted, and I pumped into the liners directly when M was smaller and drank more. I never tried freezing them, but you can.
