I posted this in our conversation from earlier, but this place has been bumping with posts lately, so...
Have you thought about the D40? The biggest difference in the D40 and D60 is going to be the megapixels. But, if you're not going to enlarge photos bigger than 8x10, you probably wouldn't notice the difference anyway. Don't get me wrong, the D60 is a better camera, but you can get a great deal on the D40. We got our D40 for $500...that price included the camera, 2 lenses, and a gadget bag...from Wolf Camera. I checked their site, and it's not on sale right now but it's bound to go back on sale!
Here's a great site...they have some of the best prices, no sales tax, and they're very reliable: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/
Also, this site has some great equipment reviews: http://www.dpreview.com/

Re: ***Alesha***
No problem!
I think the camera bodies are pretty much the same size also...I'm not positive though. One thing we LOVE about the D40 is that it's so small and easy to carry around. The Nikon VR lenses are great....DH has a few and they really do make a difference. We didn't get the VR lenses with the D40 though...but, they make a few kits with a VR lens:

The D60 will allow you to be a little more creative with your photography. Are you planning on taking any action shots?...like at sports games or anything? If so, I'd recommend to go ahead and get the D60.
