Ugh, comfort for my normal style.

Why on earth did I think it was OK wear these boots yesterday?

You can't (or maybe you can) really tell they are about 4" with a 1" platform to offset the height. At least I looked cute yesterday...

Well dumba$$ (me) wore them yesterday thinking, hey, I'm fine. I can do this.

Yeah. Not so much. My back was KILLING me last night (where I had to stop being on the elliptical it hurt) and woke me up because I couldn't get comfortable....because my lower back was, as I said, killing me.

So it's flats (or nothing higher than 1-2" heel which isn't me at all) for me most days of the week now... but I am thinking of trying some wedges out for the spring...because the weight is more evenly proportioned maybe? I have some cute flats, but I hate how I look in dresses w/ flats (I like the look of a heel or a wedge, I feel like it makes my legs look longer, vs making them look like pregnant tree stumps).

I don't know the purpose of this post rather than just share in my stupidity.

Bah.

Re: Ugh, comfort for my normal style.

  • you're not going to like me saying this, but i've been wearing mostly the same two pairs of shoes (flats) for the past month or so. heels are just not happening with the back pain and balance issues. i hope your back feels better, but keep in mind that you may have to sacrifice fashion for comfort and safety.

Yup, this I realized yesterday. I should have written that. I would never smack you :)

The stiletto style is gone from my wardrobe now (sadly...) They'll be back in my rotation again this summer /fall once baby is here.

Most days I am wearing my flats...le sigh.

I just may try wedges I think they may offset any issues.

  • Jax- 22 weeks was about the point where I stopped wearing heels, too. It was a revelation one day in the same way "Holy hell this was a mistake."

Pam- I wore the same two pairs of shoes for the last two- three months? It was like, my feet were swelling so what was the point of stretching out more than two pairs? I had a pair I wore with everything brown and a pair I wore with everything black.

  • It was about that point that I had to trade in my heels too.  I did wear some wedge sandals through the summer that weren't too uncomfortable.

  • Yeah, be careful! I'm like you and prefer heels... I think my legs look stocky in flat shoes. But health and safety first, at least while you're pregnant. Remember when my sis was a bridesmaid at 7 months pregnant and the bride wanted her to wear 3" heels? Sis talked her out of that right quick. Oh, and now that bride is pregnant... my sis is so tempted to point out the heel issue. And the travel issue.
  • That's about when I started wearing flats only as well! I had 2 pairs of sandals one one pair of closed toe that were my go to shoes. I did wear a pair of wedges a few times, but only when we went out for a nice dinner.

I've heard rolled up newspapers in your shoes help but I have not tried...

Me too, so this is why I don't wear a lot of dresses or skirts in the winter.  I hope your back feels better soon.

  • My most comfy "maternity shoes" were 2-3" wedges, in a wide width. I rarely wore brown clothes because they are black, and I wanted to wear them every day...
