Gas Prices

How much does the gas prices bother you? I mean your going to pay either way but do you run out to fill up when you get a gas price alert or do you not pay attention?

Re: Gas Prices

  • I have to get gas either way but I am looking at if they are going to keep increasing the prices, I am going to have to redo gas budget. Need to get to/from wk and do what I need to do, but might be staying home a lot more than not. Other people might be doing the same thing too?

  • Meijer texts me alerts, but it doesn't have any bearing on when I fill up.

I am super sad that the prices keep going up.  My car gets like 15 mpg.  Crying  I almost miss my little 2-door Sunfire.

  • Can I just say how HAPPY I am  on a four day work week instead of three....all for the same pay.  Between the extra day of daycare and gas, I'm not sure why I'm even working.
  • Right now I don't pay attention to the alerts but I feel like it is a gamble if you fill up now vs. later and it's a silly game.  As for my thoughts on this issue in general -  Something stinks and always will if the gas companies are padding the pockets of our government representatives

    I agree with all this.

  • I have a 60+ mile commute each day and while I can make myself afford it, it definitely hurts.  My new car somehow gets crappier gas mileage than the old one that was always threatening to die.  That's just not fair.

I don't currently have gas alerts set up since I drive between 3 cities, but maybe I should.  Today totally caught me off guard.

I don't tend to like how Meijer gas acts in my car, so what other ways do you all get gas alerts?

  • I tend to watch gasbuddy.com just to see what's going on local. Usually if meijer puts out an alert I can count on everyone raising their price as well.

    True enough; good call.

  • We know where the cheaper places are and try to go there.  The gas station right across from the Cascade Meijer is always really low for some reason.  DH drives 70 miles each way to Lansing every day. His Focus gets 38 mpg, though, and that's why we bought it.  We are totally going to get an electric or electric hybrid for our next car.  We refuse to be a slave to the oil market.

  • I'll complain, but the fact is that I need it, no matter what. I'm doing home health care and when I have to drive far, I just drive FIL's truck...it gets great gas mileage compared to my car. But I'm also seriously blessed that I'm paid for my travel time, so that takes away the pain a bit :)
