CD collection - not cloth diapers :-)

** edited for clarity heheheh

How vast if your CD collection?  We have 100's of CD's we never listen to because of technology - Itunes, TV radio stations, etc.

So, we're thinking of ripping all our music to a PC/hard drive and sell the CD's.  Saves room AND earn a few bucks, right? Has anyone done this?  Beside's Bull Moose, who else buys CD's?  I don't have the time to sell on Amazon and really just want to unload quickly.  Maybe Craig's list?

Re: CD collection - not cloth diapers :-)

  • I did this just before we moved to Newport, and it was such a relief to clear up all the space, and have all my music backed up on a secure backup drive! I took mine to Bull Moose, since they're pretty easy to work with, and like you I didn't have the time/energy to list them all on another site. I've never used Criagslist for selling before, but I think depending on your collection, it might be difficult to sell off without breaking up into individual discs, which might take a while to unload. Good luck!

  • I immediately though you were talking about diapers and had my eye balls come out of my head at 100s. I was going to be concerned you were a diaper horder in need of intervention.

    On that note...

I ripped all of our CDs on to an external hard drive years ago. Selling the discs is typically uber not worth the time and energy. I have a two boxes in our basement of the discs that are still in cases. Any cases that were broken got thrown out or freecycled (they aren't recyclable) and the discs with books were put in to a massive disc binder. We never listen to actual discs any more since DH and I both have iPods wired in to our cars, but keeping the discs was easier than dealing with selling or getting rid of them.

    Me too!! hahaha.

About your idea. Sounds fantastic! I don't know that anyone would spend $ to actually buy our CD's. Hmm, definitely something to think about before our big move, we have thousands!!
