I am cross posting because I don't think anyone looks at the pet's board. LOL.
My cat hates me. I stopped feeding the cat canned cat food about 3 months ago when I quit my job to help reduce our budget. Since then, the cat has been sulking, looking at her dry food in discust every night when I feed her, and meowing and pouting by her food dish all day. Last week she even pooped in the path from my bedroom from her food dish (she has never pooped in the house before). Is it nutritionally necessary to feed a cat the wet canned food? Or do I have a spoiled princess cat???
Re: My cat hates me
Did you gradually take her off the canned food? Did you mix the canned and dry or did you stop canned one day and start dry the next? What type of food are you feeding her? Is it high quality food?
Most cats do not need wet food, but if you suddenly changed her diet she may not be getting as much water as her body is use to and her body had to suddenly adjust to digesting a different type of food. The fact that she pooped outside the litter box for the first time makes me think that her system might be having a hard time on the new diet. Did you speak to your vet before you completely changed her food?
No, I do not think your cat hates you, but I think she is trying to tell you that the food does not agree with her system or that she just doesn't like this brand of food.
Her sulking is probably better termed as a reduction in energy, which could also indicate she is having a hard time digesting this food, or she is not receiving all the nutrients she needs.
I have three cats, two are 14 and one is 16 and most brands of dry food contain preservatives and additives that are unhealthy. What are the ingredients in the dry food you are feeding? If they primary ingredients are corn, rice etc then you are going down the wrong way health wise for your kitty.
Please read this article and you will see why cats need wet food.

Dry food is the leading cause of Urinary Tract Infections. I found out the hard way feeding my cat dry food with a $ 1,400 emergency vet bill when he had a UTI.
Its also true that cats are carnivores and the meat in wet food is more pleasing to their palate. Why not make your cat happy and feed your kitty a high quality canned food. Not only that, you will have a pet that will live a longer, happier life.
I feed my cats Natural Balance Grain Free formula with no animal by products (grains are not natural for cats) since they are carnivores and they have been incredibly healthy on this canned cat food.
We only feed our cat dry food that the first ingredient is either chicken or salmon. If the ingredients start w/ corn or something else like pp said, its not good for them. Our cat only gets dry food 98% of the time, but sometimes we will give her a little (just over a teaspoon) of wet food mixed throughout her dry food. She def loves the wet food more, but she also really loves her dry food. It took us awhile to find a food that she actually liked. GL!
