Thursday Trip Down Memory Lane! (PIP)

Hey Ladies!

It is so much fun looking at all of our tickers and seeing that we are under two months away from our Anniversaries!!!!

Soooo.....since Thursdays on the board can be  bit slow, I thought it would be fun to use Thursdays to take a trip down memory lane, and share and relive some of our favorite things about our big day!

I'll start:

Our DJ was awesome! One of my biggest fears regarding my reception was that no one would be on the floor, and it would be one of those painful events where the DJ has to practically beg folks to get on the floor (I've been guests at a couple of those, and they are not fun! I love to dance, so it usually ended up being just me and someone's uncle and a niece or nephew on the floor).

Although our DJ was highly recommended, and our meetings went very well, I was still a teensy bit nervous...I should have saved my concern, because this guy promised "face melting mixes" and boy, did he deliver! Thanks to him, the dancing was one of the best parts of the reception. I danced like a fool, and it was so cool to see everyone up and having a terrific time :-) One of my favorite parts were the line dances (I love them - they get everyone up!), and seeing the little ones take their place on floor with their folks and really cut it up!!! Good times, and great memoriesBig Smile

Re: Thursday Trip Down Memory Lane! (PIP)

  • One of my favorite things that was unexpected was the location of the ceremony.  We had originally planned to do it outside on the water on the beautiful grounds of our location... unfortunately mother nature had different plans and instead we had to be located inside - which i was totally against.  SO we ended up using the portico which i had ORIGNALLY wanted but the vendor said 150 people won't fit in there.  oh yes they will - if it is 40 degrees, super windy, and on the verge of rain.  they will fit.  AND they did!  i was so happy we got to get married because I am in love with the stone and cement work!  this picture is the best i can find which is sad cuz the place is amazing!image

  • Fun fun!

So many things to choose from, it was such an awesome day... BUT, I picked these:

    image

My sisters surprised us during the toasts, and recited a poem they had drafted the night before (apparently after a few beers and loads of pizza)... it was hilarious, super sweet, and right on!   I love them so much, and it's awesome that we are so close even though we are years apart in age.

Another shot of my sisters, with Paul and me on the dance floor.  They were really cutting up and kind of the life of the party.  Well, the dance floor was full all. night.  thanks to our awesome DJ.  So they weren't the only ones having fun, but they were real hams.  I just thought our photographer captured some amazing and funny moments.

  • Yay! I loved both of yours!!! And you were right - that stonework was simply beautiful :-) Our ceremony was also originally planned for outside and had to be moved inside...let me see if I can find an inside shot...here is one, although it was a room shot, not a close up...I think this was during the prayer...what fun!

  • I'm bored today so I have a few...

My ceremony had to be moved indoors too, to the same room as the cocktail hour. I was upset until I saw how great it looked, and the venue did a fabulous job doing a quick changeover.  I don't have a picture of us under the chuppah handy, but here was the set-up. What you can't see in the pic is that the Hudson River and NYC skyline was visible through the glass doors.

My sisters, who both acted like they couldn't give a crap about me getting married the entire 9 months I was engaged, got really emotional when I was coming down the aisle.

    image

A surprise for our guests... my DH lives in a Yankees hat. So I got him a Yankees yarmulke for the ceremony. People who know him well cracked up when they saw it.

     image

The other surprise... my niece's boyfriend stole the show and started breakdancing.

  • Love the Yankees yarmulke, Lori, very cool!

And dayzchic, your ceremony location was gorgeous, hooray for the rain after all, right?

Stacy, yup, dancin' like a fool... proof of a good time!  Our DJ didn't play a lot of the songs I'd put on the play list, or at least I don't think he did, but he read the crowd and kept us all moving, and played stuff that really rocked the house, so I have no complaints (and lol, much of what I put on the play list was 80s stuff, ah well, he kept us a little bit more fresh).

Our ceremony location wasn't super exciting, pretty, but it was a conventional Catholic church.  But I really love this shot of our programs basket at the end of the aisle... if I might say so myself, I was really pleased with how our DIY efforts played out (okay one more, below are the table numbers DH and I made too).

    Good times, good times!

    Anniversary

  • Oh my so much....I just love going back and looking at all the pics! I should do it more often!

Well I will say the band was AMAZING and our dance floor was hoppin all night!!!

    image

Hubby dancing with a few of my bridesmaids! I love this shot SO funny!!

    image
This is my "cousin" Missy and I dancing in the circle that formed. See the man on the left of the photo? Worlds biggest music snob and not really a dancer/partier and there he was out on the dance floor this was a testament to me that the music was good!

    image
I also LOVE how shocked hubby was when he saw his SURPRISE groom's cake! :)
  • I forgot how to PIP....

The best memory coming to me right now is dancing with my dad, both to our father/daughter song and also the way he pulled me out on the dance floor when Margaritaville came on, because we always used to sing it together when I was a little kid.  Of course, I had no clue what the song was about back then but it was just a fun song and he loved Jimmy Buffett.  :)

    image

Another one was actually the night before the wedding when we all gathered in the lounge at the hotel where all our OOS/OOT guests were staying after the rehearsal dinner and singing karaoke with all our friends and my cousins from Pittsburgh.  I didn't want to leave that night but knew I had to if I wanted to feel somewhat human the day of the wedding.  :)  My cousin's husband kept buying me beers all night, and my cousin Matt kept buying Mike's.  I even felt a bit of a hangover the morning of.

And then there was the point at the reception where the DJ played "Billie Jean" and my cousin Luke dominated the dance floor with his exact-replicated Michael Jackson moves.

  • While walking down the aisle with my dad, I was about to cry..DH put one foot out and made this huge wave like so silly and a big goofy smile..I almost lost it.

AFTER the wedding when we got into our room and opened a few cards and he took bobby pins out of my hair.  :)

  • Awww!  I love happy, sweet memories!

  • My favorite thing from the day is saying our vows.  I was trying not to loose it but it was hard not to.

  • Jeff is a pretty private person, so pastor was really worried about how good the "kiss" would be with Jeff's shyness...but he did great! : ) You can even see our pastor smirking about it! : )

    image

The food!!! Oh lordy was it awesome! Our favorite Grandma-Style food restaurant catered. My sisters were making so much fun of me for having fried chicken...until they tried it.

    image

Jeff hid huge granny panties in his coat pocket when he came up to do the garter, and pulled them out while he was supposed to be up there getting my garter. It was hilarious!!! And, I had NO idea! I was impressed he took the initiative!

  • This is a great post!!!  I love seeing everyone's pics - It feels like yesterday but it feels like ages ago too...what a fun time to reminisce about!!!!!

This is not the most flattering picture, but I'm SO glad our photographer captured these moves!!  DH never dances, but he danced the WHOLE night at our wedding and it was such a blast!

    image

And I love my expression in this one that my friend took - this is my "see how I'm not smashing the cake in your face?" look!!!  I didn't really think he would do that to me, but it was my little warning, since I got to go first

    image

And this is just my favorite shot of me!
