Care to share a pet peeve?
I find it super annoying when people have 2 tickers for the same
event. I always see people on the bump with 2 (and I've even seen
three!!) pregnancies tickers, with different backgrounds or words. A pregnancy ticker, vacation ticker and anniversary ticker don't bug me. But more than one of the same thing is a different story. I don't know why, but it totally irks me.
What are your random pet peeves?
Re: Care to share a pet peeve?
That is super annoying. I see it all the time on the bump too, and I just don't get it. Are we sharing bump/nest pet peeves, or just pet peeves in general?
For nest/bump in addition to what you have mentioned I get annoyed when people have a huge siggy with a million pictures/tickers.
In real life I get annoyed when people are late. I get super annoyed.
Either on here or IRL or both!
Oh, I'm so with you on the lateness! I'm an early person. My parents used to tease me that if I was on time then I was "late for being early." DH is always late and it drives me CRAZY! Whenever we go somewhere, I lie and tell him we need to be there earlier than we do because he's always always always behind schedule. Grr!
IRL, it bugs me when people add "r"s to the end of their words.
I have so many pet peeves that I'll sound like a crazy person if I list them all.
I hate when people don't signal. I mean, c'mon, they couldn't have made it any easier to click the little indicator right by your hand.
I can't stand it when people crack their knuckles.
People who take up two parking spots. Makes me want to key their car
Bwwahaha. I make fun of my MIL all the time for this. She went to Chiner last year. They have good bananers over there. We went to Coster Ricer for our honeymoon. And she loves to make a nice paster for dinner.
lol
My nest/bump pet peeves are those who say, "Am I the only one?"
Yes, you are the ONLY one in the whole entire world with your issue.
IRL- I cannot stand people who interrupt or use incorrect grammar. I have a friend up there who is a teacher who cannot speak correctly. She is always asking where things are at and can't get to/too, there/their/they're straight.
So teachers who can't speak correctly or know these things REALLY drive me nuts.
I can't stand people who talk a lot about money IRL. Esp when it involves what they paid for things or how much of it they have. I think it is crass.
I also can't stand people who are very wasteful with money. Mostly those who are self-indulgent and cannot afford to be.
Others- not spaying/neutering your pets, letting them roam off leash, and chaining your dogs is a good way to get on my sh!tlist pretty fast.
I am trying SO hard to break this habit. Especially before DS is old enough to start mimicking everything I do.
At least you've got good motivation to break the habit! I have literally interrupted meetings (albeit small meetings, not big conference rooms
) to ask a colleague to stop with the crack-a-lacking.
Oh, that's a good one! I like to walk up and down escalators but people are always standing two wide on them.
Oh I would never do it in a meeting or around a lot of people. It's a nasty habit and it is so unfeminine. I have been doing it since junior high after years of seeing my older cousins do it (of course they were boys...)
I'm usually the crazy that says "excuse me!" in an annoyed tone to get them to move out of the way
YES. These are the things that used to annoy me SO much when I was taking the T every day. I hated when people would get on the escalator (esp when there are no stairs) and just stand there blocking everyone behind them. Bad grammar really gets on my nerves too- not that mine is perfect but, really, didn't you learn in 3rd grade the difference between "their" and "they're"? Seriously. The North Shore accent has really been irking me lately too- I guess working in Gloucester there is no way to avoid it but if I have to hear "cahbs" (aka "carbs") one more time I think I might hit someone.
Adoption Blog
Have you seen my posts about the crazy assistant who sits near my office? She keeps saying she needs to leave and get a different job and one of these days I am going to shout what I always respond with in my head, "So GO ALREADY!"
Or when they get to the top of the escalator and just STOP to open their umbrella, or pick their nose, or whatever the heck it is that they're so preoccupied with that they feel the need to ignore the 300 or so people trying to get somewhere. Jerks.
This is weird to say on a message board, I know, but I hate text/internet speak. My texts occasionally turn into War and Peace because I insist on using correct spelling and grammar 99.9% of the time. And most of the time, the abbreviations aren't that much shorter.
I also really hate sandals with socks. It just makes me irrationally crazy. As do peas. I have an irrational hatred of peas, so I get really annoyed when I see something delicious on a menu and then there are peas listed as an ingredient. Bleh.
Well I use a lot of Nest speak on the nest/bump but not IRL (see...)
My mom just discovered text via my 16 year old cousin last year. So I get texts from my mom like, "What R u 2 doing 2day?"
I'm like, "Mother, type like a normal adult. You have a PhD for crying outloud."
I don't like accents in general. I find American ones to be remarkably trashy no matter where they are from.
That is why I do my best to control my Southern accent. Because I know it sounds stupid. I am glad most people in Chas don't have accents, which you would think they do, but they don't.
Yeah, that's the sort of thing that really makes me crazy. IRL, or BTW, not so much. But things like "C U L8r" make my head explode.
No I havent! but it sounds like my co-worker. Unfortunately, she is the teacher I work directly with, there is no escaping it.
Making early in your career business mistakes and upsetting clients is very hard to overcome and get put behind! Negative remarks never get lost on the internet and can ruin a career before it really starts.
My daughter Andrea Runkel, had great reviews for her photographic talents but really messed up her reputation by not following through with finished product in a timely manner to a few clients. Ironically her own relationship took precedence over her business responsibilities. But no excuses she messed up legally and is paying back those clients along with delivering finished work.
As her Father I have taken over the operations of her business to assure extremely prompt replies and completed work. She was so depressed that she allowed this happen. I'm hoping our new business model with minimal up front payments and final payment not payable until ALL work is completed to clients satisfaction.
Hopefully WE will be given some opportunities to prove her dedication to all clients who are eager to get pics at a reasonable cost with a guaranteed delivery of finished work within 2 weeks of event dates.
Luminescence Photography is 150% dedicated to providing great rates and quick turnaround on edited pics/albums with an extremely talented photographer and a me, her Father running the business side to transform her reputation to one of the best with many favorable reviews.
Thanks for reading this post and am hopeful new Brides-to-be give us a chance to prove out her dedication to make everything right again. She's extremely sorry for her past grievances and anxious to prove herself to all who are understanding that a past mistake does not mean you can't learn, improve and grow as a person and as a business.
