I'm no organic nut or environmental cruisader, but DH and I are very aware that there seem to be a LOT more instances of cancer and autism and other things talked about in the article now than in years past. And we can't help tie it to all the plastics, chemicals, and preservatives we are exposed to constantly today.
We don't want to shield James from everything (nor ourselves) and we only have a certain budget to accomodate changing behavior, but we're doing what we can to reduce exposure. This article makes me wonder if I'm exchanging one bad for another equal or worse offender. We try to avoid having all plastic toys in lieu of wooden (although a lot of that has more to do with annoying electronics and sounds), but I wonder how "healthy" what we have is. Like I said, I'm not rich so I can't afford to buy super nice, untreated hand crafted toys and furniture from artisans/ Etsy/ the like, but maybe the health cost ends up being about equal in the end.
Scary stuff.
