Vacation story

I flew out of the Flint airport last week. They don't have body scanners, so I was dreading the idea that I would be chosen for the patdown. I totally forgot about it that morning. Brian was ahead of me and went through the metal detector and then I did. As I was going through the guard directed me toward the center where they were doing the patdowns.  Figures!

When we were driving to South Padre later that day TH was like "Later tonight, if you want, I can play a TSA agent and you can be a passenger."  I busted out laughing and told him that wasn't going to do anything for me. Smile

Re: Vacation story

  • Aw, bummer that you got pulled aside!  The TSA agent must have mistaken your nervousness about the security procedures as suspicion.  Is the pat down as awful as they say it is?

FWIW to other flyers, I flew through GRR on Friday and didn't see anyone get pulled out of line for additional screening.

Actually the morning of the flight I totally forgot about the fact that they didn't have scanners and did pat downs.  I think it was just quiet that morning and they only had a male passenger in the screening area, so they needed to give the female agent something to do.

It wasn't as bad as I feared, just awkward.

  • Haha, I'm busting up at YH's comment.  That was a good one.

Speaking of pat downs...We always get pulled to the side b/c of MH's hip.  I don't get patted down, but they pull him aside, then I'm left by the bag scanner, trying to put my shoes back on, pick up my carry-on, grab his carry-on, and pack his wallet, phone and whatever junk he has in his pockets into his bag,  I have to repack his laptop if he takes that, and pick up his shoes, all while a line of people are behind me.  I can't wait to do that someday with all of Violet's junk on top of that (sarcasm).  Oy!

I just read that GR airport is going to have three lines for security - business/solo passengers, familiies, and those with disabilities and employees.    Hopefully that will make things a little easier.  That would be tough though.

  • LOL, that's one scenario you dont think of often in the bedroom I'm sure!
