My mom is a two time kidney transplant survivor. She had the first for more than 30 years, and the second for just over 10. She had her routine appointment with the nephrologist and she is almost at 3. Which means she needs to start testing family members etc and get put on the donor list.
She has done so well with both of these transplants (including two pregancies, one of which was twins) and she acts like nothing has ever happened and really just lives life.
She just needs some prayers that we find another donor soon. We have been lucky as both of her donors have been live donors and were family members. One was her biological father and the second was her half sister. We are hoping, that if we have to go through this process again, that my uncle will be able to do it. He is a perfect match but wasn't able to last time...I think because of protein in his urine or something.
That's it ![]()
Re: Need some nestie juju
hope she finds one soon.
This!
Like PPs have said, I have so much admiration for your mother, she sounds like such a strong person! Lots and lots of good Juju coming her way!

Yes this!
Ditto this as well!!
Thinking good thoughts for your mother. Not trying to pry, but what Transplant Clinic is she associated with (you don't have to answer that if you don't want to!)?
She lives in Bangor, and her nephrologist is in Portland. Her transplants have both been done at MMC. If I remember correctly, her first pregnancy (with my older brother) was the first successful one in maine after a kidney transplant. My brother turned 34 in Dec 2010. Just a tid bit of info
So I don't know what clinic per say, but all her docs for this are with MMC, some times she gets stuff done at EMMC but not frequently.
My mom is pretty freakin awesome! She does act like nothing is wrong and takes pretty good care of herself. She can keep up with the best of us. And frankly, I think she's gonna have more injuries from her horse and being a klutz than this kidney thing! lol
thanks for thinking of us ladies...i'll keep you posted!
