Ok ladies - I hate to admit it but I've really fallen off the wagon since the wedding - on my wedding day I was down to 147lbs and now I'm back up to 156 (just 2lbs shy of my starting weight) - I just rejoined Weight Watchers online and I'm so excited to get back on track again.
Anyone else having trouble sticking to a plan or staying motivated? I was thinking of doing the weekly weight loss check ins again on Fridays if anyone is interested.
Let me know what you ladies think
Re: Post Wedding Weight
Yeah I'm not gonna post my weight...considering that your "heavy" weight is around my GOAL weight, ahahaha. I'm trying to lose some weight as well. Once we move, I'm going to be able to ride my bike to work, so I'm really looking forward to that.
I'd go for the weekly weight loss thing if you want to do it again!
Books read in 2012: 21/50
haha, same here. I've got almost 100 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight
BUT I started WW last week and lost 3 pounds, so that's a start.
I think you should do a weekly post, Linds!

I'd definitely be up for the weekly weight loss check-ins. I'm starting a new workout plan this morning, so I'd love to have another place to hold myself accountable.
Ok ladies - I'm on it - this Friday I'll post our first weekly check in. I'm so glad to have you ladies "in this" with me. I'm officially on day one of Weight Watchers and plan to start going to the gym regularly again starting tonight. Wish me luck and we'll see how it goes on Friday

I'm in...
I didn't lose any before the wedding. I actually gained weight. I've lost 5 lbs since the start of the year though. About 20 more to go!
I'm leaving for our honeymoon Saturday, so I have this feeling that I will gain those 5 lbs back ...
I am dreading that I will gain the "newlywed nine" and I am NOT a fan. I gained about 4 lbs of the weight I had lost and I am desperate to get rid of those and hopefully another 10 - 15 lbs.
I think the the weekly posts are a good idea to bring back, maybe it will help to make me accountable. I've been at the gym regularly, I just need to really crank up the workouts I think.
I'm defintely in! I lost about 8 pounds before the wedding and have put that plus a little more on back on (although I think a few pounds have to be due to going off the pill). I'd like to lose about 18 pounds before the end of May/start of summer. My clothes are fitting and it's really depressing me. So yes, I need to be accountable (ironically I'm writing this just as I'm finishing eating leftover chinese food).
Linds - what do you think of the new WW points+? I thought about joining online, but I'm going to try to use myfitnesspal.com instead to track calories in/out. I'm still on the fence about WW online.
I'm not Linds, but I just started the 'new' WW about two weeks ago. I love the new system, and I think it's far better than the old one. Now, they actually account for protein and carbs (and still count fat and fiber) so it's more balanced. plus, fruits are free!

Thanks, Steph! Maybe I should try it for three months and see how it works. Perhaps a switch is what I need to get myself going.
I totally agree with steph - I did the old system, and this is my first day using the "new" system - I love it! I feel like I can eat a ton - and I'm having fun finding new things I can have and new ways make other options better. Fruit being zero points is super helpful, if you're still hungry, you can eat fruit to fill you up. I love using WW online because it helps me track my points, water intake, etc.
Also something I tried today that I'm really excited about - I bought one of those ranch dip packs (the powdered mix that you usually mix with sour cream) and I mixed it with plain, non fat, greek yogurt - its delicious and you cant tell the difference, its much better for you, and the veggies i'm dipping are free
Yum!

Linds - I love that little trick!! I am trying to manage my fat intake (as a Celiac, it's easy to way overdo it on the fat and protein and not get enough carbs), and I am so happy I don't have to use sour cream to make veggies taste good!!
I am in the department of needing to gain weight, so I don't really apply to this challenge. However, I do need to get healthier... stronger, better cardio, etc as I am at risk for some conditions if I don't stay healthy. And I had little time to focus on health in 2010. So, I am running a 10k in April. Tonight is one of my training nights. Good luck everyone on sticking with your goals!
I'll meet you in the middle
So, I've never actually be tested, but I'm fairly certain I have at least a gluten sensitivity. (I'm about 95% sure it causes my migraines at the very least.) Have you found any good online resources? WW has some gluten-free recipes that I'm going to try, but I'm always looking for more!

Steph - Most of my successful cooking and baking endeavors from scratch are thanks to allrecipes.com. I try recipes that are rated 4 or 5 stars and will often take the advice of the commentors to further improve taste. I will keep a bag of Bob's Redmill All-Purpose GF flour and a package of xanthan gum on hand to use for substituting regular flour when it's called for in certain recipes (usually I substitute when flour isn't like the main ingredient lol so taste isn't affected that much). You can also search for GF recipes there and sometimes that gives me good ideas! Overall, we eat a lot of meat or fish/veggie/brown rice combos.
Genres of food: In the winter, I am a huge fan of chili since this rarely calls for flour and we can put plenty of veggies in there!
Stir fries with GF soy sauce also seem to be an efficient way to get protein and veggies. And although I am trying to cut back on the cheese (we eat sooo much cheese haha), we also eat some yummy Italian pasta dishes by substituting the regular pasta for brown rice pasta (I believe this is the healthiest and has the lowest glycemic index of all pastas). Brown rice pasta also helps get some carbs in there.
Another genre of food that goes well with GF recipes is Mexican... if made fresh, we're finding it can be made really healthy, with lots of veggies, fresh salsa and avocado, black beans, spices etc. I will often just leave out the corn tortilla's even though they are technically GF as corn seems to make me feel not so great.
If you are craving bread or need bread crumbs for something, I use pre-mixed mixes that we just dump into our breadmaker. Glutenfree.com sells "Gluten Free Pantry" mixes that seem to work well and I also like "Pamala's Baking Mixes". I don't know if they are "healthy" but sometimes you just need some bread, you know? Also Udi's brand of pre-made breads and stuff seem to have the most authentic taste if you don't have time to bake your own: http://udisfood.com/.
I know there are some great blogs out there that offer recipes and cooking tips but for some reason I haven't been a follower of GF blogs up to this point.
Oh and another thing I love about allrecipes is that people will share how they make a recipe healthier. My sister (a health nut) has done everything from the standard substituting ground turkey for ground beef to putting pureed pumpkin in her chili (her husband never knew it was in there lol and loved it). And this website may help too:
