The tentative diagnosis is costochondritis - chest wall pain. She asked a bunch of questions, listened to my lungs and heart, and poked around a bit. There was tenderness when she was poking around my chest but she didn't hear anything abnormal and thought that since the pain doesn't occur when I'm exercising she didn't want to jump into a bunch of tests (especially considering my age). Aparently this is a condition that is more common in women and on the left side of the chest and can pop up when someone is stressed or anxious (which all describes me perfectly right now).
I've been told to take Aleve twice a day and ice my chest once or twice a day. If things don't improve within a week or two, she told me to follow-up and they will run some other tests to make sure my ticker is ok.
So, tentative good news

I expect it to mostly disappear on May 14. Writing a semi-thesis while working is stressful! Add in the recent anxiety we're feeling because we've been bleeding money lately and I'm a ball of nerves and feelings.
