Need some positive vibes ladies! Lots going on!

Hi girls.  Just wanted to update you guys on what's going on over here.  Well...our house goes on the market Sunday.  Bill and I have been super busy getting rid of stuff, cleaning, making some small repairs etc. to make sure it shows well.  We have 60 days to try to sell our home (with a realtor) before his company buys it for the appraisal price that they gave us.  Since we were so unhappy with the appraisal price we reeeaaally want to sell it for a higher price within those 60 days. Plus we really could use the extra money for the down payment on our new home, so please keep your fingers and toes crossed that we sell on our own.  Also, tomorrow Bill's company is having our home inspected because they don't want to deal with any major issues if they have to buy it from us so we are also praying that they don't find any major issues.  I'm so nervous about this because we've had our share of problems with this house..so God only knows what they'll find.  Then on Saturday we're going house hunting with a realtor for the first time.  We have gone looking on our own for the last few weekends at homes we had seen online and so far haven't liked anything, so hopefully the realtor will help us find a town and home that we really love.

Besides house stuff, today was a crazy day for us. Long story, but since I've been pregnant this time, I've been getting a lot of varicose veins on my left side only.  Lately some of them have gotten really thick, hard, and they hurt...bad!  I had told the nurse practitioner at my OB about it several weeks ago and she just brushed me off.  She told me it was normal to get varicose veins during pregnancy so I tried not to dwell on it.  Well the other day the pain was just excruciating so I called my OB office and they took me in today.  After examining me she sent me to get an emergency ultrasound of my veins and it turns out I have a blood clot.  So now I have to see a perinatologist also and they are going to put me on Lovenox (a blood thinner) which I have to inject myself with everyday to break up the clot and prevent any more.  I'm so anxious about having to give myself a needle everyday, because of course I hate needles, but thank God it's only temporary.  Also, before my OB appt today, Andrew had his 18 month check-up.  Thank God, he's very healthy and progressing perfectly, except for that fact that he isn't talking at all.  The only thing he says is "dada" and makes some animal sounds, so his pedi wants him to have early intervention for his speech delay.  I knew the pedi was going to say this but I was still pretty upset.  Although I know that Andrew is very intelligent and understands everything, it's just hard hearing that your child is having a problem in any capacity.  I'm sure he just needs a little shove in the right direction and that he'll be talking up a storm in no time...we could just use some prayers that he responds well to the therapy.  I can't wait to hear my little guy call me "mama".

Well, I guess that's everything I had to get off my chest.  Don't forget to send those vibes ; )  I'm sure everything is going to work out fine all around, I just have to try to be patient through all of this.  Thanks for listening ladies!

  • Hang in there Gina, I'm sure everything is going to work out great! That stinks about the clot, holy crap. I don't know if I could give myself a needle, I don't like them either.

And my friend's son was older than Andrew and was not talking, I don't think he said anything. She took him to a speech therapist and he seems to be doing better. I know it sucks to have people tell you your kid needs help, but better now than later. I'm sure with some encouragement from the therapist, he will do just fine.

  • thoughts and prayers for you! I'm glad you called back to the doc about the veins. that could've been a major problem if they didn't treat you.

our niece didn't really talk at all until she was 2. she just kind of made grunting noises before then. I was kind of worried about her. then her 2nd bday came and all of a sudden she started talking and hasn't stopped since!

lots of vibes on the house sell/search. so have yall decided to def. buy in the new town or is renting still an option?

  • I'm so sorry... you have a lot going on. I'm glad you saw a doc about the veins, much as giving yourself shots sucks, I hope the pain eases. My dad didn't speak until he was 3! I'm here if you ever need to talk.

  • Thinking of you!  Chase has to do speech therapy too, so you aren't alone there.  As for your nurse ignoring you, I would be beyond ticked.  I'm sorry you have to do the shots.  Hope you get to feeling better.  Talk to you soon! =)

  • Wow that is alot to deal with all at once. Sending you lots of prayers and vibes.
  • Wow Gina, you are one strong woman having all of this stuff going on!  Sending lots of vibes, and prayers everything works out and that your clot goes away quickly!  Let us know how the house hunt goes, and have fun :)
  • goodness, Gina! I'm sorry you have all of this going on. I'm shocked about this blood clot! wow! The good news is I assume that VBAC = less blood loss than a RC? I hope this doesn't effect the birth at all. I will be praying. :) As for Andrew's speech delay. I wouldn't worry too much. He's still only 18 months and a boy. I'm sure it will click soon. I love language explosions. One day they just start saying all kinds of things and then a few months later it happens again and then again until they're talking like little people. Early intervention can't hurt, but the process is sometimes long and tedious to get started. We dealt with it for Vivi's PT and had Luke's speech evaluated when he was 2.5. I hope the move doesn't effect this too much. Also, have you done any signs with him? At his age I'm sure he will pick them up quickly and it may help the words come too! Also, he'll be able to tell you what he needs with no frustrations and no breakdowns b/c he doesn't yet have the words. Anyway, keep us posted!
  • Wow, Gina! I can't imagine having to deal with all of that. Lots of T&P sent for you and for your family for the house, injections, speech, and I really hope you're able to find a new home that you absolutely love.
